On a separate note, but still regarding the REDucation workshop in July...

I am a film student and my hope with the training is to gain a fundamental grasp on the workflow so that I might better produce student films shot on RED.

What types of things should DPs, DITs, and editors expect their producer to gain from this type of workshop besides a fundamental understanding of the workflow involved?

All the best,
Matt

Limitations. Every piece of equipment has limitations, and many producers/directors will ask for more than a DP, DIT (DMT, whatever), and editor can deliver. As a producer, don't be afraid to ask, but know a little bit about what you're asking by understanding the limitations of the camera.

I think it would also be good to just grasp the variety of workflow options and budgeting requirements of each. You may or may not be able to accomplish everything you want by going down a certain workflow road, so know the limitations of workflows will help in having realistic expectations for producing.
