So, I've always been curious: is REDucation worth the time/expense? What will it show me that I can't learn with a solid colorist, DP, and this reduser forum? I'm already working in the industry, so aside from just new contacts, I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts on this training.

REDucation is worth every penny that you put into it. Your "solid colorist" may not know most capabilities of the RED camera architecture. Also, many DPs do not have the time to teach you about their trade for nothing. And REDUser forum is a place to exchange information and sometimes help specific issues folks might have with their cameras etc. You could learn a lot thru this forum. However, a specifically designed course structured to teach students from the camera manufacturer's perspective would get you better results in a few days of hands on training.

There is a saying "Learning through direct instruction under a teacher or learning through the School of Hard Knocks".

You be the judge.

I think there's value in Reducation, and I learned quite a bit from the 3 days I spent with Michael Cioni as instructor for the Red Post class about 10 years ago. Bear in mind that they can only teach you the basics in a class like this. It takes a lifetime to learn the "everything else" that goes with it.
