  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RedTrip is EOL - CRIMSON is coming!!

Will Crimson help Redcine put the clips with handles in the right order?

Interesting word choice.

A cut ABABAB shows up as AAABBB now with RedTrip. If the clips where in the right order we wouldn't need edls or xmls or gluetools to conform dpx sequences. Rendering EVENT001, EVENT002 etc would do the trick.. Right?

Nope...what about, crossfades, black space, overlays, mixed formats. You still need a program like Final Cut or After Effects to put on the finishing touches. Crimson is no conform tool. It's a workflow facilitator, and Redcine is just one, optional, part of that.

But EDL/XMLs don't really like image sequences that much. So you're saying that DPX workflow is still an issue? Or... (Please don't mention Scratch.)

I'm so looking forward to crimson, though!

huh?

EDLs LOVE image sequences as long as your meta data is in order

we use EDLs on DPX sequences all day long.

as long as timecode & reel number are embedded in ever frame of a DPX you are golden

So I should be able to use an EDL from the FCP offline timeline and with the DPXs rendered from Redcine I can match things up in, lets say, Flame? Havn't had too much luck with that yet...

Oh sweet! So we won't have to wait until NAB for this?

You'll have to excuse me, I'm just a lowly DP and not very knowledgeable about this stuff. What's EOL and what is everybody raving about? I like being excited too.

Ian is over hear right now coding a new feature to save us hours due to some early camera build things -

It's coming .... sooner than you think ...
