  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Redspace footage looks great in the EVF/Monitor out but dark in RedAlert and QT!?

I have the camera set to dark detail ON which is the default.
Will look into this further....appreciate your comments.
I didn't realize that the QT gamma problem affects the image I'm seeing in Redalert. For now I have switched back to 1.8 monitor gamma and that seems to be more consistent with what I'm getting on set.
Still trying to figure out why the image on the computer is sooo much darker than the quicktimes played out of the camera/seen in the EVF/LCD.
Will continue to pursue an answer...

The QT gamma problem affects QT and FCP primarily but that circles back around RA if you're making quicktimes that will be viewed elsewhere.

We're constantly pulling our hair out over the QT gamma problem.

There is also saturation changes between RA and QT Proxies.
I just did test in REC709 and REDSpace and they are exually different in
in the way QT represents them.

Also is it your recommendation on shooting with "Dark Detail" off ad it does seem to crush the black abit and with it off seems more accurate.

On my EVF with it on i loose deatails in my top 3 grescales, they all loos seperation. With Black detail off they seem abit more accurate. on EVF and on the Monitors.

Thanks Deanan. Great to know no one forgot about it.:weight_lift:
