When running clips through RedRushes on an 8 core MacPro, RR will process several clips and then stall. If I bring up the OSX activity monitor (see image below) it shows all cores have dropped to almost 0% except for one core that is pegged at 100% red. It is not always the same core that gets "stuck". I can shut RR down and force quit the RedLine process, but the one core still remains stuck at 100%. At this point the system will not restart and must be powered off manually using the power button.

This happens every time with RR, so I started exporting scripts and using RedLine. I've had better luck with RL, but sometimes still get a "stuck" core.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas as to what might be causing it? Thanks in advance for any help, and let me know if you need any more info.

Hey, the same exact thing is happening to me and I will let you know if I find out why... have you found out what the issue is by any chance?

Here is the thread I posted today about the problem
http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=27196

I am trying to transcode the clips on a Mac Pro system running Mac OS 10.4 and with Duel Xeon 2.8 GHz Processors and 4 GB on RAM. Ample hard drive space, nothing else running, etc. I really don't know what is the issue.

Hi Dillon

The first thing I would do is add more RAM (4GB is a little on the light side). For under $200 you should be able to pick up another 8GB. We did this and the problem got significantly better.

Also, you may want to try outputting to a different drive. We've had less crashes when outputting to our NAS than to an Avid Unity workspace.

Good luck. Let me know how it goes.
