  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Redrushes hangs

I thought energy saver might be responsible so I turned off any screen saver, set the computer sleep to "never", display to sleep "never" and unchecked "put the hard drives to sleep when possible." Redrushes still hung up unfortunately.

Okay, so I copied all my media to yet another drive. Renamed all drives and folders to eliminate spaces. Redrushes ran from 11:30pm until about 4:30am and hung up. At 7:30am, as soon as I moved the mouse to bring the display out of sleep mode, I got the apple screen of death and had to force restart. I got through 34 clips which is better than nothing.

Should I return this new machine back to apple? I did buy additional RAM from ramjet. Perhaps I have faulty RAM? Thanks for any feedback anyone can offer.

Hi Jeremy i am quite shure it is nothing to with your machine, we see the same on many machines, and it does look like a memory leek in redrushes..
.try ifremem before you start it flushes your memory, perhaps it will make it run longer. and then we hope the red guy'es find the problem, because it is there on avery job.

It's been checked for memory leaks a few times with hundreds of clips but it could still be related to a specific version of the OS you're using. The OSX tools aren't exactly bug free. I will recheck.

If you want to work around it, try exporting a script from RR and then running that in the terminal.

I've exported a script, but can anyone tell me how to execute this script through the terminal? I don't know much about UNIX commands and from what I have googled, I can't find the answer to such a simple question. Thanks for the help. :)

Once you open up the Terminal, go to where the script is.
If you saved it on the desktop, type "cd ~/Desktop"

Then do "source myscript" (replace myscript with the name of your
script).

Running the RR script from the terminal seems to be crunching right along without a hitch. Been running for 12 hours now with no problem. I'll process another batch tomorrow and see how that goes too.

Thanks for the work around Deanan! :)
