Price reduced

I have a carefully looked after Redrocket X for sale. I am including a really nice TB2 chassis from Sonnet that conveniently has HDSDI spigots on the back.

UK sale prefered. PRICE £2350 for RRX and chassis + Vat if appropriate .. (inc all relevant cables and original boxes)

This is fantastic/essential for Scarlet W, Raven, Epic Dragon user that generates allot of rushes.

It can be a useful tool to accelerate Helium footage but this really conditional on machine setup.

This unit has sat in my studio and is never taken on shoots.

This is perfect for much faster than RT with Dragon footage (or MX). However if you have a helium you must use a machine that can take the 'hand-off' of decoded frames. Basically a fast GPU.

Fully de-waveletts and debayers and scales all Dragon footage

On on my old mac laptop I see between 1.8x and 3.5x Realtime from my rushes .. this is going to DNX 36 for editorial..

Even with 8k dragon I can produce on same laptop realtime to DNX 36 from 8k dragon footage …

It fully de-waveletts Helium footage.. but then passes the debayer to GPU. So if you have a helium chip you will need a modern GPU otherwise the performace will be really choked..

I have tried it with Monstro footage and it can in legacy mode do a full decode, debayer and scale on the RRX. In IPP2 mode it acts more like it does with helium doing the Wavelet heavy lifting and then handing over to GPU

Where this unit is amazing for me is with mountains of dragon footage and a 4 year old macbook pro.. happy to demo it!

I think people think the RRX is not needed or doesn't help with helium footage... you have to spend serious money to get close to the performance of a RRX (in a ballenced system)..

This thread is interesting..

I recently built a new Thunderbolt 3 Hackintosh system (GA-Z270X-G9 - i7 7700k 4.2 GHz - GTX 1080, both Win10 and OSX 10.13.1) to work with Epic-W 8k R3D material, and I also picked up the new TB3 Sonnet III chassis for my Rocket-X (connects as PCI-e x8 lane), my transcodes tests have been in Redcine-X 50.1 on High Sierra, the results are below. The system runs at about 70-75% of its system resources used while transcoding 8k R3D files (HBA Areca Controller and 8 TB SAS Raid5).

8k R3D (rocket-x full debayer) to 4kHD ProRes aprox 25-28 fps, 2:00 min clip takes avg 1:45 min
8k R3D (rocket-x, full debayer) to 1080p ProRes aprox 35-36 fps, 2:00 min clip takes avg 1:20 min

8k R3D (GPU, 1/2 debayer) to 4kHD ProRes aprox 7-8 fps, 2:00 min clip takes avg 7:00 min
8k R3D (GPU, 1/4 debayer) to 1080p ProRes aprox 18-20 fps, 2:00 min clip takes avg 2:30 min

As you can see with these real world tests the Rocket-X does improved the transcodes times by quite a bit, but you really need a system that can actually make use of the Rocket-X. My old GA-Z87X-UD7 system with a GTX 770 OC is about as fast with the Rocket-X in a thunderbolt 2 chassis (PCI-e x4 lane) as my new system is with only using the GPU in that system (GTX 1080). The older system just can't handle 8k files, but it does perfectly fine with 6k and 5k R3D material.
