  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDROCKET ....dead...

Thanks Shibion I do think it's odd that from what I've been reading RR's seem to die shortly after upgrading builds....Which is really bad given that Red seem to constantly release new builds...if you are on number 4 then that's at least £12000 you have handed over to RED for something that should surely (based on cost) give more to its owner

The red rocket is designed for a 4k workflow, 5k transcoding seems to take a much higher toll on the life of a red rocket, I think it wears out the card more quickly. I don't think the rocket x will have the same issues, being designed for 6k transcoding.

A red rocket is an expensive and specialized tool, with a limited lifespan, if you're not getting a decent kit rate or charging a specific rental for its use, then it's money out of your own pocket. If you factor in the avg lifespan of a red rocket vs it's price tag, then it's costing you $50-75 per day, it's not going to reliably last 3-5 years like a MBPR or Mac tower which only depreciates by a few dollars per day, a year old rocket out of warranty isn't worth very much.
