Can RED or an existing RedRocket user list the current supported apps ?

Presumably the following are supported 'out-of-the-box' :

- REDAlert
- REDRushes
- REDCine-X (?)

But what about the following ... do they benefit from the R3D improved playback speed and output render speed/improvements :

- Apple Color 1.5
- Adobe AE CS4 (via RED ADOBE CS4 INSTALLER (BETA) v1.7)
- FCP7 (?)
- others currently being used ... ?

Is the card only 'approved' for use with a PowerMac ?
Is there a (RED) 'approved' way for the card to be used with a MBP ?

Thank you ...

From what you listed the only software that is supported is REDCine-X...

REDCINE-X, ROCKETCINEX are suported. No for color, no for PowerMacs well unless you mean Intel Mac Pro. None of the 3rd party software you listed currently support it. There is a way to use the card with a Macbook Pro.

REDRocket for Apple laptops:

Yes, I did mean Intel MacPro ;-)

Is RocketCineX essentially like ReadAlert then ? As I do not have the card I'm having difficoulty in visualising 'how' it's used ... I guess I better pay a visit to Red UK and have a play before making my mind up.

Thanks for feedback ...

RocketCine-X is like RedAlert on speedballs... it has progressed so far past RED ALERT thanks to many sleepless nights from Deanan and Rob... but you have the right idea.

I own one, wouldn't trade it for the world. Number one must have after the camera itself.

Changes the entire way you work.

Even if RocketCine-X were it, and there wasn't any further development planned - still worth it.

Ha Ha so true Jim.. Its definitely addicting.. and by no doubt the card pays for itself incredibly quick by the enormous increase in speed and efficiency... just on rendering alone.

Thanks folks (& Jarred) ... I have a sense that it is a no brainer !

Having moved to AE CS4 for all my work (the ONE app that does everything that I need) I was hoping.
I used RedAlert before that, so it's not such a big deal to revert until the other apps come back on board.

I'm sure that the render speed gains / on-screen response alone will be more than worth the wait

Adobe is on it.... Rocket support is in the new SDK.

Will be paying a visit to Red UK VERY VERY soon ... thanks for clarifications folks.

does any body know if RR is usable or will be able to work with a second video card. I mean if I have a Blackmagic HD link extreme installed will RR be able to down convert and accelerate R3D to 1080 for playback out to a monitor through the Blackmagic card?

Does this mean that Adobe are currently working with the latest RED SDK (which includes Rocket support) ? Lets hope the next incarnation of the RED ADOBE CS4 INSTALLER (post v1.7) is just round the corner then :w00t:

RR already does that.. it has HD-SDI outputs that play out 1080 in realtime. There is also a breakout box coming in the next month that will give you a whole whack load of additional rack mountable connections.

As far as currently supported apps, we showed realtime 4K full rez high decodes with SCRATCH at IBC with v5.0. That will be released very soon.

Is RR going to support other codecs (like Kona 3).

01. Does RR support Red Rushes or does CineX do batching???

02. My application is primarily to process clips to prores

03. What else are you guys doing with it???
