  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RedRock microRemote (Handheld) vs. Cinegears Single Axix (Expresso)

Ashok,

The finger wheel has a 270 degree rotation to it, and it maps whatever range you calibrate to its full rotation.

So you could do the whole lens to 270 degrees, or if you were doing a closer macro pull, you could manually calibrate a smaller range of the lens (say 8" to 2ft) and it would expand that to the 270 degree of the finger wheel.

Thanks Loren, invested in the Redrock Handheld system. Love the Cinegears option too, budget eventually limited my choice.

Appreciate everyone that contributed.

The newest Cinegears Wireless follow focus Controller and Motor has four new operation modes.

The users now have four different respond speeds to choose from. The respond 1 mode has the fastest respond and the respond 4 mode has the smoothest respond.

Switching between four operation modes can be easily achieved from the controller.

For Standard Controller,
Press O+REC+A to start response one mode
Press O+REC+B to start response two mode
Press O+REC+C to start response three mode
Press O+REC+D to start response four mode

For Mini Controller, press A+B to enter into function mode.
Press B to select Function 8.
Press REC to enter Function 8
Select one and then press REC to start response one mode
Select two and then press REC to start response two mode
Select three and then press REC to start response three mode
Select four and then press REC to start response four mode

The motor is also improved to reduce stepping from happening at low speed.

We also removed the function that speed nob can have direct control of the speed in real time.

This upgrade require both the motor and the controller.

And the upgrade can be achieved through RMA on Cinegears website

http://www.cinegears.com/rma/

For anyone that purchase the wireless follow focus:

within 3 months, this upgrade is free

within 6 months, this upgrade will cost $49

within 1 year, this upgrade will cost $79

We appreciate the support from this community.

This upgrade is not necessary be for everyone, the new features are for specific type of users.

Sincerely,

James

After we tested the Came TV wireless follow focus, which is a clone version of Cinegears wireless follow focus, we can conclude Came TV wireless follow focus to the following facts.
The Came TV tried to make their follow focus looks and functions exactly the same as Cinegears follow focus which mislead clients.
When Came TV cloned Cinegears wireless follow focus controller and motor, they clone different version of wireless follow focus controller and motor. The controllers were from an older generation while the motor is the newer generation. This causes a lot of capability issues as well as limitation. There are functions for the motor that the controller doesn’t have the ability to access. At low speed, the speed control in the controller hit the limitation which caused the motor to become “steppy.”
