Is anyone else having issues with REDROCK? I have been patiently waiting for my mattebox to come in and sent an email August 13th to ask when it would be shipped.....they replied and said within 2 weeks. 3 weeks later, I sent another email that asked what the shipping status was and they said that it would be shipped within 3 weeks.

When someone from Redrock says two weeks, three weeks ago, then tells me three weeks from this week, I feel like I'm getting my chain yanked.

I called and emailed them this morning with no response. I couldn't treat my clients like that and continue to do business with them.

the only way to avoid this is to go with one of the larger companies (arri, ect.)

from what i've seen brian works his ass off to meet deadlines. his main hold up seems to be a constant need to ship things out RIGHT not FAST. i understand your frustration, but i don't think it's out of RR neglecting their responsibilities...

and no i don't work for RR...

Did you email Brian directly? That method worked great for me.

No, I emailed "redrock orders", but after placing a call today, leaving a message and also sending another email with no response, I'm a little put out with them.

After the first email response that my MB would be shipped in 2 weeks, we started to make some production plans. The production dates are not pushed right up to the "Two week delivery date" however we certainly weren't expecting one month past the two week scheduled date of delivery.

The fact of the matter is that we will need a solution with 19mm rod mount which I do not currently have.

This is not good.

At least you didn't get lied to. I was told both publicly and privately that the RRMB could take up to 6.6x6.6 filters/trays. Big surprise when I finally received it many months after ordering and it won't take the Arri 6x6 trays Brian said it would and also that RR themselves won't be releasing 6x6 trays that fit either(which they repeatedly said they would).

So fair warning to anyone who has a big zoom or a collection of 6x6 filters. The RRMB does not and never will accept these filters.

I'm pretty sure that 5.5x6 X 5.5x6 is the largest filter you can put in a RR mattebox. I to was hoping for the 6x size, but no can do.

Almost exactly the same story for me. Emailed over 3 weeks ago from RedRock telling me my matte-box would be sent the following Monday. Since then nothing. Have emailed them every other day with no response.

RedRock - if you read this - I really need my matte-box. I know you guys are trying but it is extremely frustrating to be told to expect shipment and then fail to back it up - especially when you go quiet with information about delays.

Same here, same email, same promises. Still keeping the faith but would love to either receive it or get a new realistic estimate.

You guys better bring this to redrock forum..i have exactly same problem..but Brian help me out to see where i stand in the order

Same situation here - ordered on April 15, 2008 (when they promised delivery within 6 weeks, sent E-mail on September 1st to ask for status, got just a canned reply with absolutely no information.

Friends of mine did get the RR matte box and it looks good, but RedRock's communication is a desaster.

Brian, come on, you can do better than this !

lol.. you guys are still looking to get a shitty redrock MB.

guys.. seriously.. the waiting game sucks. I mean you know how long it took to get this MB out.. 3 freggin years we've been hearing about a RR MB. and its not even in full production yet.

the whole point of a MB is to stop unwanted light from going in.. and to use filters on your lens.

you got other options you know... you got heysen.. gear dear... yes they look hideous.. but atleast they get the job done and they dont have to make you freggin wait a century to send em to you.

Akube, you last comment was unqualified.

I got my RedRock MB several weeks ago and it is decent quality. We got two ARRI MBs earlier and the amount we had to pay for those is ridiculous for what they do, really. The RR MB has a much better value/cost factor. And, it works reasonable well, especially with non-cine lenses like my collection of Nikons.

RedRock simply cannot produce enough MBs quickly, that's their problem - and their bad communication :)

Folks

Back from travels, and now at IBC. Let me clear up a few things:

Dominic - yes we had discussions on the size of the supported filter, and these were discussions *prior to* the final version being spec'd and released. If you check our product page on the microMatteBox, you'll see that the largest size we support is 5.65" square (that is correct HD Arizona). With any production in pre-release, specs can and do change. It's important that folks rely on the official product spec page for the final word on product specs. As much as I'd like to say anything we or any other manufacturer says about pre-release products will be true, things do change.

Akube - If you read user-posted comparisons of matteboxes, the geardear and heysen don't even compare. Yes the waiting game sucks, but it's improving daily.

Regarding product delivery and backorders, we had an issue with the last batch 19mm arms not being in in the tolerance we spec'd, so we had to rework them. The arms are done and we expect the backordered microMatteBoxes for Red customers to be shipping in the next few days. The folks who are in our order department were unfortunately not made aware of this delay, and that is our mistake. We recognized this, and have taken steps to improve our internal processes so this doesn't happen anymore.

Thanks again

Brian

Very well. That info would have been much appreciated rather than the canned response. You guys should have followed up and made us aware of that little glitch......we have a schedule to meet as well. It looks as if there is a lack of concern in that department which desperately needs improvement.

I fully agree. With the notable exception of Brian Valente I have not seen any indication that Red Rock care the least bit about their customers. I honestly don't understand how Brian can live with this situation and not despair.
