Does anyone know when they will have 5.65 filter trays. Are those needed for the 18-85, or does the 4 x 5.65 work.

If you want a pola, you'll need either a 5.65x5.65 filter or a big round one that fits on the front of the lens (I don't recall what the size is.) Personally, I had already bought a 5.65 pola, so I got a used Arri 5.65 try on here to go in my RRM mattebox.

Thanks Dominic!

Yes, you can by Arri 5.65x5.65 from Abel and others. And there are other options as well. You could buy the Arri parts to put a rear bellows ring in the back which would then hold a 138mm round filter. But that's a pretty expensive route to go. Another solution is to buy a round filter housed within a square 5.65x5.65 tray with a geared ring on the top so you can rotate it without rotating the tray. Again, not cheap, but the unit is it's own tray, so you don't have to buy another item. Stan Wallace at The Filter Gallery sells them.

There, I promoted a product that is not sold by Abel. Just trying to help out kids.

I have not personally tried it but was told by someone who had one that they were able to use it. Try talking to Stan Wallace at The Filter Gallery about it. If it will work in the MB20 it should work in the RedRock mattebox.

How can you use a 138mm Circular Pola with the RRM? Is this possible with the standard setup? Or is something extra required?

Mitch,

Does Stan's tray fit into the RR MB? Rivai posted a picture of a similar pola in a tray and said it did not fit. It was not clear if it was Stan's or another.

Let me assure you than the tray is perfect 5.65 x 5.65. I have done the measurement, no problem on that. Redrock stage looks like 6" instead of 5.65. Whatever it is, exact 5.65 x 5.65 will not fit into Redrock MB. I find this the hard way. Stan has develop a new one with gear driven with side bar (allow to fit into redrock), the new one will fit, but it will $1200 or something. The one like i have will not fit. I almost sold it, just waiting for confirmation

Arri MB tray will fit for sure. because i believe the horizontal dimension is 6"

According to brian, you will need Arri bellow and bellow adapter

Stan advised me he has two options. One for Arri and RR which is 6 inch and an other option for Chroziel, Vocas etc which is 5.65 inch so you are covered either way. the rotating tray looks a good bit of kit, I don't have one yet.

Quick question... Does it make sence to buy a second hand affordable 4X6 Matte box or better is to wait to have enough money to invest in a proper 6X6?

Sorry it's something i'm not really familiar...

thanks
