Well....after a long wait and many delays, I almost cancelled the order. I wanted to end my frustration and thought that I would just go ahead and bite the bullet and buy an Arri MB20. After all, I knew that it would be delivered in a matter of days, plus I could pat myself on the back all day long knowing that I had an Arri.....lol....but I really wanted to see if the RedRock MB made sense, or was it just a POS that I waited forever to get. I mean, Osprey HD is no Bears & Sterns or Merill Lynch, so we really have to watch how we spend our $$$ because no one will ever bail us out, and I could buy 6Redrock matte boxes for the price of one Arri MB20.....so I waited...and waited, thinking that in the long run, I would be dissapointed that I didn't buy the Arri in the beginning....I was wrong.

It arrived today and I couldn't be more pleased with the RedRock Matte Box. Very well done and very very well worth the money. The overall value is a 10 and it really makes sense. It may not be an Arri, but I have 5K more in the bank than I would have. For those of you that are thinking about the Redrock Matte Box, it's hard to go wrong, so if you're looking for a matte box that makes financial sense and still does the job buy with confidence.

Mine also arrived today. I have been through the same experience and it has been a very long and frustrating wait, but when it finally ships the Redrock mattebox is very good value for money.

It is also worth mentioning that I saw an early model at a fellow RED user about a month ago, where the part that attaches to the rails did not lock tight enough. This problem is definitely gone on my model. Brian mentioned that they did have quality problems and had suspended shipping until those had been fixed. This has obviously happened and I have to agree that the results are worth the wait.

I agree, we like ours too. Only if you think you'll be renting to folks who demand/expect an Arri, get it. We have one MB20 and one RRMB, for each of our 2 REDs.

Thanks for the feedback folks - now we are working to get our customer service as good as our products.

By mid-October we should have all backorders filled and have the microMatteBox within our normal lead time of 5 business days.

That's really good news Brian.

Andrew.

Brian, you are brave and strong to have been in the firing line all this time! :weight_lift:

I'll bet you're looking forward to the delivery/customer service issues being a thing of the past and just basking in all the positive experiences people are having with your gear!

Thanks again for all your help. Mine is now in Honolulu and will be with me tomorrow! :whistling:

Cheers,

Jim

Thanks folks -

As I said before, our current aim is to get our customer service to the level of our products. What I am looking forward to is getting on with our next set of new innovative products - we have barely scratched the surface of what we want to accomplish, and we look forward to sharing more great stuff with everyone- without the wait

I also want to thank the Red community for being understanding and supportive of us. We do appreciate your business and look forward to being a great supplier for you all.

Cheers

Brian

Brian - could you make an affordable fluid head in the O'connor 2060 range, please? :-)

Brian please keep us 15mm studio offset users in mind.
Alot of us are hoping you will come out with a 15mm/100mm spaced swing away arm soon!
All the best,

I must have one of the early ones. I can't tighten the knob on the swing-away rods tight enough to keep it from slipping. Also, the filter stages do not rotate smoothly at all. They stick and grind even when the locking pins are completely removed. I sent an email to Redrock support, but since it seems that Brian is reading this thread, maybe he can chime in on these issues.

Yeah, my side wings refuse to stay on which I have heard from others as a common problem on their mattebox as well. Other than that it does the trick with a few custom mods to lock the swing away arm when you open it.

I'm sure you already know this, but just in case - I first put the side wings on incorrectly, just whacking it on the side of the matte box rather than putting it in the slot. Quite tight in there.

Anyway, long shot but thought I'd throw it out there.
