i just got the redrock ff with the 19mm adapter and it won't quite fit between the rods and the bottom of my red 18-85 lens. anyone found a work around?

i've been messing with it some more and i'm not feeling good about it working. any suggestions? or suggestions on another FF to try?

It's more expensive, but the Arri FF4 is pretty awesome, and I've definitely seen photos of them used with the Red 18-85.

I don't know of any quality solutions in the same price range as the Redrock, unfortunately. Maybe the Arri MFF1? I'm not aware of the price on that one.

Is it possible to remove the thumbscrew on the bottom and mount the FF directly onto a RED Universal Mount with it? Would that make it low enough to clear the lens and still work?

I did something similar with my Redrock follow-focus, but I was trying to save space in front of the lenses, not height. I don't have the 18-85, so I don't know if it would fit, but I played with my follow-focus and made about as small as it can be.

See this thread. A couple of us had the same idea. My pictures are near the end. You can reverse the large plastic screw top and put it under the follow focus to save more room.

The ARRI FF-4 and MFF-1 both work on the RED 18-85 without interference.

Cinevate would probably work great! I was very impressed with the build quality and its under $1000

thanks for all the advice. i'm going to check out a couple of those other products and hopefully get something ordered this week. that cinevate FF looks like a pretty awesome product for the money.

i heard back from redrock and their team was able to put together a fix. pretty killer customer support. let them know if you're having similar issues and they can help you out.

Did RedRock make you a bigger gear? we have the 0.8 32 p gear, and I thought that was the biggest gear.

We have the same problem with our re - modified Duclos Zeiss 50 mm - pretty desperate with upcoming productions...
