REDRAY and DVD

I do apologize if this question has been answered - I admittedly don't follow the Red Ray portion of the forum as closely as I do others...

Initially, REDRAY included media support for DVD. But looking at the REDRAY product page and subsequent tech specs and features, it looks like DVD is no longer being offered.

Is that the case - is DVD dead for RED? Or is that something that we will see incorporated later as a module or perhaps in a non-PRO™ REDRAY for the consumer market?

Redray Pro does not support spinning media AFAIK.

There may be a red product in the Skunk-works that's a Redray home version.
It hasn't been mentioned, but it could/should have some ability to play disks and also be a digital media player, with built in Hard disk drive and external drive support.

I would be happy if it were a codec that could be used to burn to any media, even a thumbdrive, and played back on the Red Ray unit.

4k at 20mb/s is really amazing, and that is for cinema projector porpuse. That could mean that red allready has a codec/protocal that could fit as wel on dvd as online streaming. Even if it wouldn't be the full 4k there could be a hudge market. If they don't charge too much for licensing (bbc is working on an open source one). That could mean red sells alot redrays..and could be even there main market in the future.

Well, it would be good if it had digital TV recording as well with as many tuners that can fit and bluray, with the ability to play any format, to avoid the clutter too much equipment. The time is actually now right to have a updatable system based on android. This would allow programmers to introduced customized player/record software for it. That would be marrying the redray to any existing consumer chip system. It would be a good product to offer Panasonic and LG for their all in one BR/DBT recorder systems and give content for their SHD TV's. But at this stage I think Red has already decided on the course for redray.
