  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDRAY and 50" Seiki 4K TV

Quite a bit of discussion about it around here, both in the REDRAY areas and the SEIKI thread… All things considered, it's an OK combo and may or may not fit your liking or that of your clients. You need to boost and lock the signal to feed it into the SEIKI. This is a SEIKI issue, not a REDRAY issue. So, many of us are using HDBASE-T converters to do that. The Gefen one can be had for around $225 and their latest model supports 4K up to 30fps over a single CAT-5e or CAT-6 cable and no power adapter is needed on the receiver end.

Input #3 on the SEIKI is problematic with most any source, and every source pushing UHD/4K.

The SEIKI only refreshes the panel at 30Hz when operating at 4K/UHD resolution. So your 24fps material is going to have some judder on playback. At 1080p and other HD resolutions it adaptively refreshes at the proper rate, just not when at 4K/UHD. While I've got SEIKI to confirm this, I have not been able to get any answer as to why it does this or if or when there will be a fix for it.
