TO EVERYONE

There's a problem when I attach the master prime lens on the RED ONE, it's quite loose when I attach the lens on it normally, but if I screw the PL mount tightly, the lens cannot be attached on the camera (because the PL mount cannot be rotated once I screw the mount tightly), is there any problem for the way I attach the lens so it become loose and is there any ways to fix it tightly on the RED ONE ?

THANKS

YU

Are you using ant lens support?

The two Allen (hex) bolts on the PL backfocus (collimation) collar should always be tight except when adjusting the camera backfocus (FFD) - the backfocus collar should never be "loose" or able to be rotated by hand in normal use!

The PL mount tightening ring with the four "ears" should be free to rotate about 45degrees normally. If it can't, then your backfocus collar is probably a long way out of the correct adjustment and is interfering with the PL mount tightening ring.

If you don't really know what you are doing, I'd suggest you contact a competent camera/lens technician from where you hired the lens to adjust it for you! You really don't want to take chances with damaging your camera or the Master Prime!

Thanks Paul and Eric.

my situation is like this:

Thanks!

WOW!!!!!

I use R1 with masters a bit...
That looks like someone haven't properly turned the mount to fit...

Is that at all apossible answer?

The Masters are really tight fits in the R1 PL mount, you have to allign it very well, to be able to properly lock the mount...

Probably a weird suggestion, but that was my first thought...

Long shot and probably already checked. I had a similar looking problem the other day. The PL mount on the lens was loose. So check that as well.

Doesn't the i-pin connectors belong at the top? In your video they are sitting on the side. That doesn't seem correct to me.

You're right, not sure how you could even get the pl mount on with the connectors rotated 90 degrees. I'd start by reseating the PL mount on the camera then, if that doesn't work, take off the tab that has a small dot next to it and underneath that there is a screw that stops the mount rotating. Unscrew that small screw , not all the way, until the pl locking mechanism can rotate further. Try giving that a clockwise rotation and see if your lens will lock. If so, tighten the grubscrew and you should be good.
I'd start by moving the I-pins to the top, though.
p.s. make sure that the mount screws are either allen or Torx.

When you take the Red PL mount off the camera there is a spacer that goes behind the PL mount. If you put the PL mount on without the spacer, you will not be able to rotate the lens tightening portion enough to secure the lens. You will also not be able to get proper FFD.

Look at this video and 1:05 and see the spacer I am talking about. Make sure your camera has that.

If you do have the spacer, then loosen the bolts to set your FFD and turn it so you get more extension on your FFD. Maybe it is set so short, your mount can't rotate enough to properly lock the lens in place.

Hope one of those helps.

Looks like the front section of the the PL mount has been removed (to install a different mount solution like the RED or Optitek Nikon mount), and then improperly replaced.

So, in other words, it needs to be serviced by someone who knows how it's supposed to go back together. Hopefully it, or the underlying i-data connection and cable, are not damaged. EDIT> And yes, Dustin is correct about the spacer. Perhaps it was not put back in.

Thanks Gunleik,Olafur,Michael,Shane,Dustin and Jeff!

That was fixed already! Its because of the camera backfocus is not correct.

but after that you still need to adjust the ring.

Anyway thank you all so much.
