  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

redone vs. SI-2k vs. f23 vs. f900 vs. phantom hd vs. EX1

Hello? Colombia?

You have no idea on what people with dirty money will spend their money, even if they dont know how to use it, it works as a cover up. :shiftyph34r:

Things work differently down there, maybe they just shoot "Tv Comercials", with little budget and little Post.

Something like you would see late night on Public TV. "Yes remember that lawyer from TV". Stuff like that....

They even make this counclusion "red is fine for film like shooting". Hello? What did you espect from a digital cinema camara?

Ok Eisenstein, I know you are mad, and probably speaking from the rage produced from some unprofessionals who tried the camera. But with all due respect you should not speak about stuff you have no clue or idea about. Specially in that despiseful way you are using. I wont explain what we do here, but your post is kind of naive. I don't know who posted the comparison, and I am pretty sure they are wrong, but please dont generalize a country of 45 million people for just one post.:detective2:

As for the comparison I believe it was made awfully wrong without the understanding of each camera and what it is for. I have used the Phantom, the f900, the f23 and I bought a Red One.

They are all different cameras and their conclusions are based on a wrong experiment. They dont understand what this camera does, they dont understand the terms they are using, and they dont have a clue of the tools they own. So dont take this personally, its a camera out for the public, so you have to be prepared for the critics who bought a half a million camera and now are loosing money and market for a fraction of a price. My thought would be that the people who tried these cameras are ignorant, and even more they dare to show their ignorance to the whole world by posting a comparison which the only conclusion it draws is that they dont know what they are talking about. So people calm down, take a deep breath, and relax. Its all better for us. What I feel is sadness because our market is growing at an amazing speed, and the camera offers extreme capabilities for the development of this industry. And most of this people lack in knowledge and that is our real problem. I bet the fear of misunderstanding is what leads to this mistakes.
As of now, we are working hard to educate our own so we can learn from all these crazy experiments and seize the most of the tools the industry has provided.

It's of course very unreliable to draw conclusions from something translated by a computer program (Google language tools), but it does appear that several of their judgements were made by viewing the cameras' outputs to an external monitor - which presents all kinds of hassles for the evaluation (particularly concerning cameras that shoot RAW and require LUTs to be monitored).

That said I think it's unfair to cast dispersions on someone else's tests just because their conclusions don't match your own. Transparency is important if people are to piece together informed conclusions about specific pieces of equipment.

I thought in the compressed images taken off a monitor; that the redone images won hands down, specifically in knowing what you can do with images with more detail. The contrast and general image looked great in comparison to the others. Clearly better than the phantom or f900 and the hvx... why bother? Just goes to show that having the highest resolution is king, even when outputting to lower resolutions.

Ok Eisenstein, I know you are mad, and probably speaking from the rage produced from some unprofessionals who tried the camera. But with all due respect you should not speak about stuff you have no clue or idea about.

Sorry for that, I get to carried away with my sarcasm.

Why I tried to meant, is that like you said, we dont know the variables of the industry per se. And I took an extreme example (black money, Now dont tell me it doesnt happen either? Tall would be naive from you.), as to what we are judging. In this case, we dont have to just take the test into account, but also the testers and the conditions and of course experience.

For what I know, most of Latin American shoots are aimed for broatcast, the testers kinda reveals that too (at least his company is).

So they need instant cameras, with instant workflow, and definetly Red, the Si-2K, or phantom are going to suck.

Anyway, if we keep in mind how the test was done, and the background, is a good result for the red under the "worst conditions" being a good camera for features and not for "TV ads" or "TV shows" (Oprah 4k).

After long analysis we have come to the conclusion that this tests was made by a professional. A professional of ignorance.

I've read the whole thing in spanish. The guy starts saying that these are not the final conclusions, since they hadn't done posproduction and editing tests. He says that these are conclusions based on what he saw during the test.

In addition, I think I read between lines a slight bias towards RED when he says that RED is too sharp and gets a little videoish to state seconds later that in fact the RED's resolution gets just a wee beyond 1080.

Anyway, he didn not develop the RAW footage so I wouldn't take too seriously his conclusions about latitude, noise, color rendition or even resolution.

I have no problem with tests as long as they are performed on a professional level. I personally found Claudio's Test very interesting and revealing - we all know who's responsible for his departure from this forum.

But judging the RED ONE by its preview signal is almost like judging a 35 mm camera by its video tap signal!

We don't all know who's responsible... I mean.... I DON'T.... Care to PM me and fill me in on the details?

Jay
