  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDMOTE

Wireless remote control

Wireless remote control

The bottom line is that EPIC camera remote control via wireless can be very sophisticated....

... almost infinite control options.

We'll provide details of how all of this works operationally a bit later.

Ok, so no video, but will the Redmote display taken stills in stills mode?

Wait no live signal on the LCD? :(

I thought that was the purpose of the LCD for the DSMC configuration. A little live view framing like on the back of every other digital camera.

What about when it's attached to the brain? Can it do live view then?

Do you have to have a REDMote to control the camera or will the grip be sufficient?

Nice... very nice...Iris/Whites/Blacks/RGB/saturation/gamma/......

The way Jarred described it to me was that there could be multiple REDmotes connected to one camera, with one 'master' that could control the camera, and others for eg script supervisor that would display meta-data to be logged.

Yeah thats what I thought too.

The REDMOTE is like a sophisticated and wireless version of the back panel on a RED ONE. No images still or motion... just like the R1.

That's what I figured. And weren't you guys talking about some sort of touch screen LCD. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I could have swore I heard you guys mention it.

Any chance of a Redmote Pro that has stills/video capabilities when attached? (doing it wirelessly might be asking a bit much, I realize :p)

I'm just thinking for simple DSLR functions when discretion is desirable and you may not want a big rig with a 7" LCD hanging off it.

Or, the Scarlet/Epic page mentions a 3" LCD? Any info on that?

Touch screen LCDs are the new versions that will replace the current LCD monitors.

PLEASE allow for customized metadata entry from the Redmote. I'd love to set up fields indicating "Good Take" "Great Take" "MOS", etc....plus being able to enter what lens is being used, etc

Does the REDMote do something that couldn't be done with an iPod Touch or iPhone - except having buttons?

Ooooh, an open bluetooth standard so we could do our own!

That's a big thing missing from the Red product that I really hope gets added to Epic/Scarlet...ability for the community to build products that interact electronically (hardware and software) with the camera

That'd be awesome, but then they open themselves up to warranty/support issues.

There will be many ways to control the camera remotely.
It'll be really friggin cool :)

Can the actual dimensions of the RedMote be published already, or still subject to change?
