I do not know if that already was discussed but is there an app in App Store, which can communicate with Epic as redmote. As far as I understand the communication is over WiFi, so for all who are waiting for the redmotes, the app would save the day. Today I was shooting a lot from a jib and every time I had to press the button manually. Anyone know?

There is video of TED controlling a camera with an ipad, so the iphone should do the trick.
So REDMOTE must work on bluetooth of wifi technology. Pretty simple stuff. It's just a remote control.

Going back to initial topic, how to attain Epic control via an iPad... How ted did it?

A Laptop version will come first.
The protocols are still being put into the camera firmware for that.

Thanks, Deanan. This is getting better by the minute...

Will an SDK be available? Running multiple Epic's weekly during a live show and I'd love to whip up a custom Cocoa app for my own internal uses!

I am curious as to what progress might have been made to date for the Mission Control app we saw running on the iPad at NAB. As some have conjectured, it seems like - and forgive me here RED - an iPhone (or iPod Touch) version could be developed that would pretty much replace the REDmote for control of the Epic and Scarlet. I know that replacing the $550 REDmote with an app would cut into RED's revenue but, given the challenges of the design and manufacturing of the device, maybe software would be better. And, if they charge $60-100 for it, perhaps they could still maintain the margins that they are getting on the hardware. Just a thought.
