  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Redmote "left" button doesn't work

restart camera and red mote, worked for me.

On the navigation buttons around the Enter button, the left key does not work.

Do I need to send this back to Red?

Hi Anthony,

When I got my RedMote 2 weeks ago, I was testing the hell out of it to see if the enter button would fail and I ran into the exact same issue. Left button stopped working. Once I rebooted the redMote , its was fine, but a little unsettling.

Yesterday, I was using the RedMote to have someone else roll the camera when I had it on a Glidecam, and when they rolled it, I was about to start the shot, and the camera STOPPED recording! At this point, I discontinued using the RedMote for this shoot since I was shooting action that only could be replicated 3 times at most.

I am not going to send it in until I have a third issue , however. Could just be bad luck or operator error =)

Slightly off topic but what kind of range are you guys getting with the newly released redmotes?

Were you able to determine if restarting the REDmote or restarting the camera fixed the issue? Or did you do both and then retest?
Trent,

I had the same problem after upgrading to the latest firmware, and just resetting the redmote fixed it.

Redmote Enter and Arrow Buttons don't work ... no connection for firmware update

Redmote Enter and Arrow Buttons don't work ... no connection for firmware update

Hi everybody !!!

Just unboxed a new Redmote today !

It shows all the data like on the touchscreen when on the back of the camera, but I can't activate wireless mode or do a firmware upgrade via USB.
Redmote Enter and Arrow Buttons don't work so I cannot navigate and choose.

With USB the battery symbol is blinking but I get no connection for firmware update with the REDmote Upgrade Utility.

Any trick to reset Redmote and get it connected for upgrade ???

Thanks for tips and help !!!

Regards,

Marcus

Win 7 64-bit RedMote upgrade problem solved ... buttons still not working ...

Win 7 64-bit RedMote upgrade problem solved ... buttons still not working ...

Hi !

Meantime I found out why I couldn't upgrade Redmote via RedMote update software under the Win 7 64-bit system:

The device manager reported a new device with no driver: NDIS Ethernet Gadget (Yellow warning sign)
This popped up in device manager when RedMote was pluged in via USB ! So I searched the internet . . .

Solution: (Quote)

Windows 7 x64 needs an additional driver:

  1. On Win7 x64:
    • Download Windows Mobile Device Center driver here
    • Run the installer
    • Update the driver for the still-not-installed RNDIS device
      • Go to Control Panel->Hardware->Device Manager
      • Find the "RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget" device with the yellow warning sign to the left and double click it
      • In the "Driver" tab, choose "Update Driver"
      • Choose "Browse My Computer"
      • Choose "Let me pick"
      • Choose "Network Adapters"
      • In the list, choose manufacturer "Microsoft Corporation" and Network Adapter "Remote NDIS Compatible Device"
      • Click through the driver warning
    • The device will disappear from the Other devices list
When the driver was installed RedMote update software was connecting with Redmote and I was able to install version 2.0.9.

This part is solved.

Anybody out there with a tip ?!?

Any hidden Reset functions or is it a physical failure ?!? RMA ?!?
I once read about technical problems but can't find that posts right now . . .

Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

I've had an "enter" button failure on one of my Redmotes. IIRC when these were first shipped there were quite a few people having the same issue. I seldom use my Redmotes so my button failure has taken quite a while to surface... well out of warranty.

Can anyone who has had the same issue P.M. me their cost of getting this fixed? I can probably get by just using the good one as I usually man one camera while remotely operating the second one. So if this is too costly figuring in shipping and cost of repair, I could just put it off until necessary.

Thanks for any info.
