Been playing around with our redmote, and I'm desperate to find out if you can get a histogram up on that little screen.
I remember seeing one on some photos (or renders?)

Is this a feature yet?

We support RAW channel clip indicators at this time (a.k.a. traffic lights), but not a full histogram.

The traffic lights are a nice touch, but a full histogram would be amazing. Could it perhaps be maybe possibly in a future build?

How are you guys with the Redmote speed to sync lag with changed settings and the interface... ?
When you spin the dial, nothing changes, then all of a sudden your from 320 asa to 2500 asa..

I'm struggling with it. The 5 inchTouch screen is so easy, grip handle info is easy. but that redmote.. Im a bit lost with it at the moment.

Any tips guys.. I'd love to use it as my main camera feature settings changer when I only use the BOMB evf.

I'll keep playing with it...

What I would like to see is for the aspect you are changing to be highlighted when it has been selected.

Ie; when changing the ISO, highlight the ISO section of the REDmote GUI so we know we can start spinning that wheel.

At the moment its down to hotkeys and I still feel it necessary to keep an eye on the LCD. (which Kind of defeats the object)

Would be ace if we could get a full menu system to display on the REDmote LCD, not least for Crane work, but I know that is asking a lot.... ;)

New redmote sw coming that's completely different in 1.6.x.

Histogram is on the todo list but don't know what's viable yet.

Thanks Deanan... a question on that:

Does that mean you hope to be able to do it, but aren't sure you can?

I ask, because the picture for the Redmote and the render for the Redmote Pro diaplay a hisotgram on it. I assume they are being engineered to be able to do it?

EDIT: I thought I had seen a histogram on the non-pro Redmote, finally found it.

Thanks.

I love the redMote for remote recording...

It would be good to be able to see the menu functions on it as you change for when you cant see the touchscreen.

I do look forward to the future functionality

It means it's possible but we aren't sure if the speed it refreshes will be usable/viable until it's implemented.

Gotcha, thanks.

Silly geek interest if you are willing to indulge: As I assume the camera does all the heavy lifting in terms of curve calcutaion (FFT analysis?), what's the data payload look like for one frame of histogram display? Does the camera simply sned the 3 curves and let the redmote actualy render the solid area according to whatever local scale is selected? What's the update rate on the local LCD's? (It looks pretty fast).

Thanks Deanan!

So if you could do a tradeoff and transmit data/image for just one channel in exchange for a faster refresh rate/less latency, would that make the histogram more useful? I can think of pros and cons - but just asking since I don't know the parameters.

Andrew, I agree. It would be nice to be able to see when something is highlighted from the Redmote before spinning. Also to be able to access the secondary menus and seeing pretty much
everything in the menus on the LCD. I'm not sure what I am selecting sometimes.

Awesome! That would be great. Hey Deanan, I'm interested in testing out the 1.6 beta with slow-mo. Can you PM me the details? or email nli@q-films.com. Have a great little project to use it on soon.

Thanks!
