  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDModz Exclusive - Element Technica Handheld SneakPeak

Can anyone comment on how is the angle(s) of the shoulderpad adjusted? It seems to on some kind of pivot (locking ball kind of device), but how do you tighten it? How fast can you make adjustments on the field?

Looks good though.

Fast.

I have used this on a Feature RED a few months ago.

It was so nice but.

Didn't fulfill many needs.
We had too ditch it go with a U-Grip

Hi Luis,

I have been following their handheld solution since day one and a few months ago their handheld solution was still incomplete. What parts did your ET handheld kit actually have?

No disrespect meant towards ugrip, their products are probably very good, but from what I can judge from the photos of the ugrip vs ET's handheld, there seems to be way more adjustability with ETs solution.

Please share what the ugrip fulfills that the ET doesn't?

thanks

Thanks for that detailed description Stephen. The barrage of considerations that Element Technica make when designing a new product is what makes your company the perfect companion to RED. Can't wait to pick one up.

send your stuff to me...germany is good for testing, we love quality, but maybe it is too far away?-hey, wait till i get my red.

It looks Great Stephen. I can't wait to try it ! I wish I had it for my shoot tomorrow... Uh, actually can I borrow it ?

For those who like a more traditional approach, our rosette cross bar and clamp can be quickly removed from the dovetail and attached to a universal mount like our upcoming QR version.

Is there any info on the upcoming QR mount that can be leaked - I mean disclosed?

Stephen,

Is there any way to have an option to use RED left and right handles with your handheld system?

I rarely post on these boards for the reason below,
( Luis’s post is below)
I must explain that I was the DP on the show that Luis Flores is speaking about.
Unfortunately for Luis he spoke out of context.
Luis probably should have spoken to me about the hand held unit that Stephen and Hector from Element LOANED me with the caveat that it was NOT EVEN a prototype. They repeatedly warned me that it in their opinion, it wouldn’t be of much use. I made the judgment call to take against their advice.
I had nothing else that would work with the micro force control so I went with it despite Stephens telling me that it was not even a prototype.
They were kind enough to loan the “test fixture” to me for ZERO money because we know each other for years and they wanted to help me to shoot the best movie I could.
So here they are bending over backwards to help me and Luis not realizing that they were only helping me out makes a criticism that should be retracted but that is up to him not me, I cannot tell Luis what to do, that is for him to decide what is right and wrong.
Let this be a lesson to people that post on any type of site whether it be REDUSER or CML or what ever.
You need to be careful what you say about people and or their products unless you have the WHOLE STORY because you can find yourself to be wrong and you can also hurt a companies reputation because people will talk about it and not know the whole story.

Some people find these sites as an outlet to have a voice that they might not have otherwise had or have.
There is a great quote by Adlai Stephenson who ran for President before most people on this site were a gleam in their parents eye’s.
The following is the quote:
IF IT DOES NOT IMPROVE UPON SILENCE, SAY NOTHING.

Not only does Element Technica make great stuff,
They listen to the end user, they want to know what works , what does not work, don’t stampede down to their shop but most people do not realize what it takes to make an iris rod let alone their EVF Holder.

It would have been great if it would have worked with a Microforce zoom control.

And it did not allow us to put the handles together.

Will a future model allow you to adjust handles wider and closer apart?
And does anyone know if it will allow us to put a microforce zoom control on it?
