  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Redmag not working - help

240 GB RedMag seems to not want to format. the info on the monitor says: Media Format Slide SSD Media Format failed.

Is there a way to fix this?
 
it also says; Model Number Red 240gb V1 this media is not formatted correctly to work with this camera.

What camera are you using and what firmware are you running? You might have firmware compatibility issues there too.
 
I'm working with the Red Epic X Dragon 6k firmware 6.3.106. The Mag has been working with the camera for a few years with the previous owners and was working last night as I was doing some testing. This morning is when I was having issues with it.
 
being a newbie I'm sure it was something I did. Is there a place to send the RedMag to get restored?
 
I've talk with the Red Tech and they said the card was bought on August 2014 and that it may have ran it life course. They said they don't have part for them anymore so they are not able to fix the card.

Does anyone here know where I could send the card in to get it back to working? Thanks
 
Can you find someone else with a Dragon and see if it works? Local rental house?

I have a 1.8 240 that was acting up. I did a secure format several times and that fixed it. If you can't get it to mount then that's is a big issue. I think long takes (30 + minuets) with short takes, then long takes, may cause the SSD to fragment & doing a secure format fixes that issue.....at lest for me. I just moved to Mini Mags this week (an expensive move I have been putting off).
3 of my cards are from 2011 (128GB -1.8), they don't have a bunch of hours on them and I have had no issues, but I purchased a 240GB 2 years ago and that is the one I have had issues with & had to do the secure formatting on. We just completed a feature film this April and the 240SSD worked without problems. If you can ever get it to mount, do the secure format 2 or 3 times.

Both camera and computer doesn't recognize the card. I wish there was a place where I could send it in to get it working again
