With REDlogFILM now in redcine X what the proper way to use it. When I select it my image is looks really blown out and faded. Now I know this is because there is a lot more information now in the image but....I have to make my curves very extreme to get the image to look right and I can never get the image to look as good as when Im using REDgamma. What should i be doing when grading with REDlogFILM

REDlogFilm, like the original REDlog, is not intended to be viewed directly. Like ARRI's LogC it mimics the response curve of a Cineon film scan. It is a way of containing a large dynamic range in a video file. It needs to be viewed through a LUT to convert it for viewing on a monitor. Apple Color installs a generic LUT called "log_95_685.mga" in HOME/Library/Application Support/Color/LUTs/ although it seems not all versions of Color install it.

Yes Nick, not all versions installs all luts. what the hell is going on in apple???

can you please place it on a server to download it here ??? that would be great... thx

If Nick can't I will.

Color has been hiding her LUT's all kinds of strange places. Even within the app package -:) Without being accessible through the application itself.

Makes sense, right! _:)

Dumb question, sorry how do apply the LUT in color?

File>Import>Display LUT

But test your full workflow. Color only allows a genuinely log workflow with DPXs. Log QuickTimes can give unexpected results.

Thanks Nick just found it in color help

Been testing the MX today. But the images look dark. playing with RCX and Color

Redlog Film

Redlog Film

SO I just received some footage and whomever was on-set did some onelights using Redcolor2 and Redlog Film. However, the footage look great on my computer monitor. Shouldn't it appear washed out, since Redlog Film is not meant for display on my uncalibrated screen?

It is possible to make RedLog Film look awesome for any old display... RC2 RLF on this one, graded in Resolve.
