Hello together,

I've installed the REDCineX Build 356 and through REDCineX the
newest REDLine Version into /usr/sbin (like suggested).
Now I tried to use the "Quicktime Render"- function in R3D Datamanger (6.2.1),
but it showed "Could not locate the required REDline application.
Please install the latest REDline package through RedCine-X."
.

Can anyone tell me what to do to make it work?

Thanks
Gerhard

Make sure you haven't moved the REDCINE-X_build_356.app bundle from where it was when you installed REDline. If you have, you'll have to install REDline again.

Hello Grant,

I dropped REDCine and the REDLine- Alias into the Application folder (German version: Programme). I started REDCineX and installed REDLine. I didn't move any of these.

BTW: I tried again, same thing...

I installed now REDLine Build 252 and tried again...
It worked, no message of missing REDLine!

I looks like the new REDLine isn't supported?!
Is there a possibility to use it?

It should be possible to use the newest REDline, but I don't know if R3D Datamanager supports how it's installed now.

If you're familiar with the command-line, you might try manually installing it:
sudo ln -sf /Applications/REDCINE-X_build_356_mac64/REDCINE-X_build_356.app/Contents/MacOS/REDline /usr/sbin

(You would have to rename Applications to Programme.)

It would help us fix this issue if you could run the "Install REDline" command again from REDCINE-X, then send me the output of "ls -l /usr/sbin" from the command-line.

Hi Grant,

thanks for your help. It didn't worked again with the new version, I sent you a PM with the requested data. Hope this helps!

I cannot duplicate your issue with REDline. We have supported the way its currently installed for some time now, and in all our test systems works well.

From your command line, try this:

Code:
cd /usr/sbin
ls -al RED*

That should list your REDline installation. It should look something like this:

Code:
lrwxr-xr-x  1 root      wheel    122 Jan 25 21:54 REDline -> /Applications/REDCINE-X_build_356.app/Contents/MacOS/REDline

(You'll notice from the above that I just re-did it to confirm it does work as expected). Then see if the REDline exists at the link path. Note to use the link path that is particular for your system (the stuff after the arrow in the output above), but something like this based on above output:

Code:
ls -al /Applications/REDCINE-X_build_356.app/Contents/MacOS/REDline

Which should produce this output:

Code:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 username staff 7304792 Dec 20 10:12 /Applications/REDCINE-X_build_356.app/Contents/MacOS/REDline

So what we are doing is confirming that the link is in /usr/sbin, and the binary at the link exists.

Hello Conrad and Grant,

Thanks for your contributions!

I tried, what you suggested:

cd /usr/sbin
ls -al RED*

delivers:
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 57 26 Jan 07:02 REDline -> /Programme/REDCINE-X_build_356.app/Contents/MacOS/REDline
-rwxr-xr-x 1 Gerhard staff 17560 15 Mai 2009 REDundead

When I now try to confirm the results bei typing:
ls -al /Programme/REDCINE-X_build_356.app/Contents/MacOS/REDline

I get:
ls: /Programme/REDCINE-X_build_356.app/Contents/MacOS/REDline: No such file or directory

When I change "Programme" to "Applications" I get this:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 Gerhard admin 7304792 20 Dez 19:12 /Applications/REDCINE-X_build_356.app/Contents/MacOS/REDline

This seems to be strange! I get the Programme- folder, but it can only be found in the Applications- folder! How can I find out which REDLine- Version is installed?

You should be able to do the following:

Code:
sudo mv /usr/sbin/REDline /usr/sbin/REDline.old
sudo ln -sf /Applications/REDCINE-X_build_356.app/Contents/MacOS/REDline /usr/sbin

That moves the old redline and makes the new one, which should fix it, but I dont know why its reporting as applications or programme

You can see which version of redline you are running by typing in:

Code:
REDline --help

And the version info is the last line. But you need to do the above moving of files first.

Hello Conrad,

After executing the commands and determining the REDLine Version, I get: REDline Build 356 Mac 64bit Public Release, which is fine :)

But if I open R3D Datamanger and the QT- Rendersettings, I can't find Redgamma 2 and Redcolor 2, which should be available with the new REDline, or not?

Ok, thank you for your help!
I'm very satisfied with the R3D Datamanager!
(Maybe you can make such a helpful program for
other camera-formats too... :)
