"Rediscover" in the manual

For what is "Rediscover" good? The manual explains what it is but nothing about the circumstances I should use it.

A couple of scenarios you should use it are:
1. You replace the side SSD module
2. You replace the fan
3. RED support asks you to during trouble shooting

Note: performing a force upgrade and resetting to factory defaults also triggers the rediscover.
