Is there going to be any REDCODE RAW 4k support for Avid?
There's too much talk about FCP, Adobe AE and Premiere, people forget that Avid is still one of the largest editing systems.

I edit movies with Avid and I'm not so keen on learning FCP just because Avid doesn't support REDCODE RAW.

Avid will get there, but they better do it fast if they want to retain their market share!

I agree with you about Avid vs FCP. I started cutting on Avid almost 10 years ago. At the same time, I've used FCP since v1.0 and I have a FCP system at home and do use it, but I've never felt quite as comfortable as when I'm sitting at an Avid.

I've never used FCP for anything longer than 10mins and I can't imagine trying to cut a feature on it, but if that's what it comes to and Avid doesn't get it together then I suppose I'll have to go the FCP route. :waaa:

I believe it's a matter of taste. As for support, looks like FCP gain better information and quicker pace than AVID. Anyway don't hold ur breath. Apple will get the first support before anyone else

as my grandfather would say ... "a day late ... and a dollar short."
They're done.
No pun intended, offhollywood, but:
sony, avid, adobe and panasonic will stay for a long time marketleaders in their corresponding markets.

FCP and Premiere are great products. Avid Unity, Interplay, Sundance, Deko, Thunder, Newscutter, iNews, Protools, Softimage XSI , Alienbrain play in different Marketspaces - as do Avid FreeDV or DS Nitris.

Well Sony, and Panasonic are not going anywhere.

ADOBE is going to GAIN marketshare bigtime. They have a few things I might have seen, or maybe I didn't, that, if I did see, I'd have to say we're nothing short of revolutionary. Watch ADOBE blindside a few companies next year ...

Avid ... sure, they'll be around for a long time. But the slope is slippery. When I say DONE, I mean they are going down the slope.

Until somebody else learns to offer media management the way Avid provides, I would say they are relatively safe in the high end market. As for Indie market and below... I think they lost that fight a few years back.

Just my 2 cents.

Are you hinting that you might know something big? PM me, I won't tell a soul :w00t:
