Hi all,

I have a question about bringing in clips in FCP. When I bring it in as "REDCODE", and then I put it in a sequence with the "Uncompressed 8 bit" codec, is it really uncompressed? From my understanding, bringing it in as REDCODE is really just taking the native, uncompressed r3D file and putting a Quicktime wrapper around it.

So would making the clip's sequence "uncompressed 8 bit" be the accurate codec to reflect that clip's media compression?

Thanks,
Anthony

I'm assuming you're referring to FCP here.

The sequence setting codec refers to what FCP will *RENDER* to, in the case of RED projects. Putting REDCode footage into an Uncompressed timeline doesn't magically make the footage uncompressed.
