Do you know when (date) fcs2 will be able to edit redcode natively? When will the update happen?

It's been available since day 1 of the camera's availability. You don't need to have the FCS upgrade to edit natively. You need the update to get things like RT support.

what do mean exatly with RT support?

RT stands for Real Time. The RT engine in FCP is what allows you to do things like dissolves in real time without rendering. Currently, if you drop a RED quicktime into a FCP timeline, you will get the red bar above it which means you will need to render to whatever codec the timeline has been set to use. When the update comes out, you will be able to playback without rendering and use the realtime enabled filters and transitions.

Emery: actually an update to remove the red bar should arrive much sooner. I'm testing it now. Sorry to keep you waiting. But the other stuff about RT is spot on.

You get the red bar when you have no compressor in your codec. So I'm adding it back in, but it will not do anything (except remove the red bar). In a future release of FCP this is all handled differently when the REDCODE codec will be enabled for the RT engine in FCP.

Yup- one thing that is kinda wonky now is you can drop the proxy redcode shots into your timeline in FCP but you cannot set a timeline to the Redcode as a sequence codec preset.
