We are on the first day of shooting of a feature film in Tel Aviv. everything is working wonderfully except a "codec fault" that we get when working with wide lenses 18 mm and wider.
We are shooting 4K 16 by 9 24 fps to a red drive. we started shooting with redcode 36 but on the long-shots it just can not handle the amount of detail and stops running while giving the error "codec fault". switching to redcode 28 resolves the issue.
Any fix for that? Is this a limitation people should be aware of?

Thanks.
Ido.

shoot in 2:1 and everything is ok....

HAHAHAHAHA that's the chicken answer

I've shot 16:9 4K with redcode 36 on REDRAID on a lot of my work and haven't had any problem. This was on build 15 v2.1.2, I believe.

Kind regards,

Fredrik

Daniel we are on the same line... 2:1 is for aesthetics and 16:9 is for looking TV... :sarcasm:

I'll second the 4K 2:1 call. You can easily get the quality you desire for filmout at that resolution and it will save you any possible grief with codec errors.
