I'm a media manager who has been asked to do some transcoding for a specific job. I'm not a full DIT, but still learning.

This co wants red epic footage transcode to DnxhD36, and added to a bin in avid.

Following a tutorial online here's what im doing:
Sync sound in redcinex,
exporting to DNx via redcinex
Then moving te MXF files to avid mediafiles
Then importing the ale file into the avid bin
The tutorial said to relink to get media online, but this is where is doesn't seem to work.

If I import aaf then the ale as another tutorial said, I get a playable video clip with audio WAY off.

What is going wrong with this process?

I would never recommend just importing the ALE and doing a relink as the audio will always be an issue. What happens if you go to the MediaTool and drag the clips into the bin? Are they in sync there? If audio is still an issue, I would just sync in Media Composer from video only transcodes in RedCineX Pro. See the video at www.avid.com/red
