  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

redcineX & color charts

Use the DSC charts, they are extremely consistent and theres a huge range of charts to suit every use plus they are very nice people with good values.

Ive used Macbeth charts to with some success but you are better off with DSC.

Depends on whether you're using the chart just as a color reference for post or actually setting up a Rec 709 broadcast camera for WYSIWYG. If the latter, use the DSC Camalign Chroma Du Monde chart with the 11 step greyscale.

If the former, I just use a Kodak Grey Card Plus and Macbeth Color Chart, plus a skin tone reference. That should give you plenty of info to match color casts and normalize exposures. Combine that with a look preset in camera and you should be good. For this type of chart, you will want it to fill at least 1/3 of the height of the frame. It helps to be able to see off the chart a bit for context.

Looks like Art's new DSC chart pretty much does the same thing in one chart with the following reference chips: black, white, 18% grey, primaries, secondaries, skin tones. Bonus points for the 50% saturation color patches.
