  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

We are so freaking confused we havent even opened our rocket. OK, that sounds bad, anyway.

has anyone figured this stuff out yet in a clear and concise manner? Beta releases are not always easy to navigate for us producer. Especially things change like the wind. For the good always. but change nonetheless. Many of you on here are proficient and hell, even write your own software. I'm not that guy. I like to think I'm smart but some of these discussions are technical mumbo jumbo to me.

we have a new 2.93 8 core with 24TB RAM
1. What is best Graphic Card (considering fit with RR and performance)
2. What if you have a KONA 3 with B/O? Does it affect the choice above ? I am guessing yes.
3. Also have a new 8TB MAXX EVO 2K enroute. Meaning yet another card.

Jeff Kilgore has posted a ton of stuff about PCIe and PCI x 16 lane etc... my head starts spinning.... I kind of get it.

I know this stuff is all over this monster thread. I have read it. But I cant seem to wrangle this stuff. Thanks to Michael Cioni at LightIron Digital doing the great show on the iphone. I know it transcodes like lightning.

STICKY PLEASE ??? and If ive missed it, forgive my relative newness to this board. Im 45... film guy learning digital.

Isnt this ROCKET CINE-X? 661 update? This is a REDCINE-X thread. All these names are also confusing to me. To you guys doing this for 3 years, I trust this is easy stuff.
any help clarifying this is much appreciated before we finish building our suite. thanks again

Tim, it's not nearly as bizarre as it sounds. My head spun around a few times at first as well, but if you just dive in, you will quickly know what you need to tweak and adjust.

Even crippled (by putting in a slow slot) it still screams and is unlike anything you have experienced. But when tuned, it's life changing!

Just have a go and take Deanan up on his offer for assistance. I ask him all kinds of dumb questions every day and he hasn't called me an idiot once! Sure he's thought it a couple of times...

I see that Red Alert has been updated. (That is great that it supports ProRes 4x4!) But still no word on RedCine-X ...
 
Not tonight Andrew.... Just tested the latest Alpha and there are still a few stubborn critical bugs holding it back from release. Close.. but not tonight.
