  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X V2

It's great to see RedcineX take it up a notch. It also displays what
I know has to be a case of loyalty. RED has continued down the line of a
grading arena not because they can't do an NLE but because it would
be a direct afront to one of their original partners, namely Apple. So although
we love RedcineX I think it's clear that FCP and others will have to continue to be our
main App IMHO. RED team, Thanks for making a 4k workflow possible.

And now supported...

HHaaaaaa....yes....soo happy...

Markers and Keyframing Ability ?

Markers and Keyframing Ability ?

Deanan:
does v2 have the ability to place markers and add key frames for ANY TYPE of KEYFRAMING ? Would love to see this and then be able to do 99% of my grading on REDCINE and not have to go into color to do keyframing on things like exposure and thus staying out of COLOR for those tools such as keyframing and geomotry room.

when the 3rd party modules start coming fast and furious, this tool is quickly going to become AWESOME!

secondaries
r3d trim (already in development)
look presets and fx like magic bullet
xml/edl support
keying tools perhaps?
hell, maybe even a new 3rd party timeline tool

personally i would love a tool that displayed a huge RED flag overtop of ANY clip that has any dropped frame anywhere within the clip. then, show a 'drop' box like on the RED LCD with the number of dropped frames present in this 'active' clip. this would rock, as it would allow any clip with dropped frames to immediately be recognized via the RED flag displayed over the clip. then, click the RED flag to toggle 'off' and look at the box that would say 'Drop 17'. Then, go through and find the 17 dropped frames. This would be awesome for DITs to quickly flag and find clips with dropped frames that may have been missed on set during recording.

other than that, let your imagination run wild. this time next year, most of your wild ideas will be available as modules i bet.

I would love to bring in JPEG images (or another similar format) to use as a reference since we now have still store. It would also allow you to bring in something like HD Bars to set up an SDI monitor with.

The new UI is awesome. Much more practical. Can't wait to start playing around with it tomorrow.

Fantastic! Does this mean the standard Mac version of MBL will magically show up? There is a 30% off sale at Red Giant until the 18th. Be great to know what the deal is so I can take advantage of it if this is the case.

Thanks Deanan, very exciting!

Jim

I'm guessing (just guessing) that REDCINE-X modules will be the analog to the EPIC camera modules. You get the basic software, and if you want specific upgrades (Magic Bullet, XML tool, and whatever else they cook up), you buy the module.

Like buying a plug-in...if that is the case, it seems like a great biz plan for them, to allow us to piece our systems together over time. Instead of laying down big chunks of change for expensive 3rd-party systems, we pay RED slowly and continuously over time -

Brilliant, really. We get what we want, instead of paying for bloatware upgrades that add only one or two really valuable additions. And RED gets a steady revenue stream that truly and simultaneously serves their customers both large and small. RED continues to bridge this chasm.

AWESOME work guys and can't wait. We just got MC Color and it is a really nice product.

Well If they continue this way I don't mind charging. It would be great if they make two versions: one free with basic features and one ($$$) with more sophisticated features for those who want to finish all their RED gradings in REDCINE-X.
That would be a great help especially for Windows guys..
Probably just buying a camera would be appreciation enough:zombie_smiley:

Maybe.. Or maybe just buying a rocket..:Angel_anim:

Can't wait to try it tomorrow. Once again great job RED team!

i'm hoping this is one of those things that you say tomorrow, but you cave at 10pm and post it. i'd love to use it tomorrow morning..

Nice work.

er..does anyone know if theres a button to re-center the preview in Redcine-X if you drag/move it? Haven't found one in any version yet..can't seem to resist doing it either

ps, Can't view 100% Full preview in Redcine-X on my 4gig ATI 256mb 3ghz imac..unless.. I run the windows version using bootcamp (same hardware, just with access to 1gig less ram) ..I guess OSX really is better than windows after all :boxing_smiley:

pps, if you ever create a linux version, I could start using a proper operating system, boy do I need one..
