  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X V2

if the framing tool works the way i hope it will, it will be a major help.

Can you lock the aspect, and then drag corners to re-frame by eye?

You can drag but we haven't added lock aspect yet.

Wow, first the Da Vinci anouncement this morning, and now this ?!
RGB curves ?! My dreams came true !
Framestore ?!
Plugin support ?!
Can't wait to play with this build.

Film emulation would be fantastic, but I've got a feeling we'll see that very soon...

Can I be a complete jerk-tard and ask for something in the wake of what sounds to be a massive announcement?

Could you make the curves GUI huge? Maybe two or three user-selectable sizes? A big curve graphic is something I've been dreaming of ever since I first delved into grading. They are never big enough for easy manipulation. Especially if Cine-X is in fact slowly becoming a finishing tool.

I wish I could get what this whole thing really means. In any event, sounds huge.

Great to see the magic bullet plugin for looks, and rgb curves, my favourite tool in any photo/film app.

I would love to see an option for film stock emulation like the Regrain tool in the Foundy's Furnace plugin. I still love the characteristic of film even when shooting fully digital.

Not for the Weds build but soon after:

OpenFX support (part of the Modules system).

Academy ACES IIF support.

More refined OpenEXR.

Thanks so much for updating the framing tool, the older iteration was just so cumbersome to use efficiently. It made me actually miss the original RedCine on that one account... which is saying a lot.

Holy ACES Batman. I try to avoid the obvious "you guys rock" noise but this deserves a shout out. The IIF (Image Interchange Format) program is the most elegant solution to the format mess I have come across, RED's support once again shows them to be the most forward thinking company in the industry.

thanks- #19

The guys on the software team deserve the credit for all the hard work.

Yes they do! And Jim etc. for really deciding to go all out in every direction. I'm guessing we won't see secondaries, but damn it looks like you guys are building everything else in there. I just think it's brilliant strategy for a camera company to have super software supporting their cameras.

Now that I think about it there could be a secondaries module someday, couldn't there? Modules. Brilliant.

I'm having a hard time spotting anything you guys aren't getting right lately. Friggin' amazing really.

I totally forgot about this one:
Brand new, completely rewritten REDline with Rocket support also for the first public preview release on Weds.

Win/linux versions to follow later on.

Once we can work zones, it'll be the ultimate Scratch killer, provided you have a Red Rocket. I'm sorry, but this is a multi tens of thousand dollars app you guys are giving us for free. The more I get to use and master Redcine, the more I see how much this is an amazing software. I do all my 1st color on Redcine now, and even some fine tuned grading. To be able to use Magic Bullet in Redcine is even more awesome. No more needs to downrez or convert to 2K or HD, that's just huge. Make it go back and forth with the FCP timeline and you just explode the market. Well, what's left of it anyway...

Just a small little, tiny, insignificant bit of info... Deanan.

AWESOME!

Just curious, what do you guys at RED think of LAB color space? Maybe a question for Graeme?
