not sure if this a issue with the latest version of REDCINE but I'm pretty sure I did this before without problem, I'm creating a timeline on RCX with a very rough cut of my footage when I open the XML on premiere all the video is in but not audio channell is imported same problem happen on FCPX. why I'm having this issue with the audio? thanks

R3D trim doesn't currently support audio. It's video only. Sorry!

Ouch

I have a feature request for Redcine
It would be great if it would be easier to trim your red files easier to save data. I film so much landscape and frankly get a lot of shots that are not usable.
Trimming works pretty good but it's a bit slow.

What would be great would be something like
- Press Trim button to enter Trim mode
- Now you can select multiple start and stop points on your clip by dragging beneath the time line
- Then you press Trim "are you sure you want to permantenly trim data?" Yes
- Then it replaces the current r3d file with the one you currently worked on, but now with only the areas you want to have shown.

In Quicktime Pro you can do very similar things by simply selecting areas and pressing Ctrl X for cutting out sections. It's a very fast way to cut down a movie to only have the sections that you want.

I realize you may not have any use for this on a feature movie but on documentaries and nature movies I assure you it would be useful.

Grant,

I'm very confused. So you can no longer do an R3D trim and retain even the in-camera audio? I'm certain that I've been able to do this in past versions of RedCine X, because I simply don't have the hard drive space to keep all of my raw footage. Even if you're using dual system audio you're going to want a guide track.

When I bring in old R3D Trims into RCX 20 they come up with a music notes thumbnail. If I double-click on the "music note" thumbnail it only brings up the audio. The video is no where to be found. However, if I try to delete the file from the browser, it asks me to confirm, if I select "yes," the video file magically appears and plays some audio out of sync.

I've gone back to RCX 17 to get this to work and it does allow me to trim my footage down and retain the audio and sync.

As far as I know, R3D Trim has never also exported the in-camera audio.

I'll have to ask the guy that is responsible for the audio subsystem to take a look into your issues.

Hi Jared,

We've never supported R3D Trim that preservse in camera audio. We have however offered the option to export that in camera audio as a BWF along with the trim, and if you choose to generate an RMD with that trim the audio will be linked up.

Can you send some screenshots to redcinex at red dot com showing this issue? Capture the files in the finder as well as in RCX.

Thanks!
David

Grant and David

Thanks for the quick response. I am generating an RMD and have selected the BWF option.

I'll get the screen shots to you later this afternoon.

Jared
