Hi,

I have some exports to make with the audio files separate I have put all my clips in a bin and I have auto matched the audio. When I highlight a clip it says which audio file is matched , all appears fine but when I export the QTs are coming out mute. In the export settings audio tab I have selected external audio is this correct.

Thanks for any help or advice in advance.

Hi Daniel,

That sounds correct. Are you able to hear the audio when playing back in the Viewer? If you open the export in QT7 and hit Cmd+J are you seeing the audio track listed there?

David

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply. I can't hear the audio in the viewer, I have external 1 selected. In the audio timeline I did have a waveform but once I restarted the application that went back to straight lines. In the QT properties it says it has an audio track.

I should also have said once I opened the file in QT 7 and extracted the audio it was mute.

Daniel,

Do you have Auto save RMD enabled in the preferences? It won't remember the attached audio unless you are saving off an RMD file.

If you saw a waveform for external 1 and had that audio playback channel selected, you should of heard it when playing back in the viewer. Can you confirm this? If so, did it sync correctly? Its possible you are transcoding the audio track but with no data because of an incorrect sync.

Thanks for the reply David. I have it set to Automatically save RMD files and auto save project every 30mins. I was using my own system with the same settings I'm using now and they came out in sync but took too long to create so I moved to one with a Rocket card and now I'm having issues. The settings are exactly the same. I don't have an output to an amp just monitoring on headphones , however the headphones are receiving out my FCP output and desktop output.

I checked the versions on the system that works and the one that doesn't and both are the same.

Hi Daniel,

It's strange that it was working on one system but not another. The rocket has no affect on the audio functionality in RCX. Could it be that your settings are not really the same?

David

Hi David,

I have tried everything so may have to go video only and do a sync in Avid or FCP.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi David,

Found the root of the problem. The sound recordist gave us wavs for two mics , one mic had no audio and automatch was matching to that rather than the one with audio. It's going fine now. Thanks for all your help.
