I'm doing some grading in Redcine rather than davinci and have a question about levels. Im using a thunderbolt ultrastudio mini to go sdi out to my grading monitor. Am I seeing data levels (full range) in Redcine viewer but 709 out the sdi? It seems so. Can anyone enlighten me?

I'm just noticing my blacks and whites are clipped on the sdi out of redcine, not usually the case, and I'm not seeing any info on what range is being output

I would be more concerned about the monitor you're looking at. Has it been calibrated? Can you be sure the monitor is reproducing correct Rec709 color and gamma?

I've also played around with the controls within Redcine-X Pro and it's terrific as a dailies tool and awful for final color. I would not want to rely on that, particularly because of the inability in making small adjustments and doing important correction like keys, curves, and windows.

Have you looked at the "SMPTE Restricted Range" check-box under "Video Out" in the preferences?

The only thing is that the behaviour of that is slightly confusing (it's changed in a recent update) in that your selection there also affects the image displayed in the UI, and also the scopes. This is a bug IMHO.
