SWEEEET I wanna go back to work now and try it.

Thank you Red Team!

There is a responsibility to stay current when you own RED. That means camera firmware and software (REDcine-X).

Red is definitely not for people who want to go to work tomorrow and find it just like yesterday. There is always more to learn, more to discover, and more ways to think about imaging.

He who stops moving forward just fades away.

Hmmm ...

I'm excited about updates, but I'm typically conservative during productions.

I'm not on a Red production now, so I'll probably upgrade tonight and fiddle around, but if I was I'd avoid any updates on the DIT and post systems and the camera until we were done.

Are you advocating a different system? If so what is the thinking behind it?

I can find no good reason not to try this out immediately!

Onward and sideways!

MMMMmmmmm.... Magic Motion.

I think the "Magic Motion HDR Blend" is the most interesting part.

I think Magic Motion is a definite upgrade to simple blend. Im impressed.

However, Id like to be able to manipulate the looks for both A and X tracks individually. Since each is a raw capture, I should be able to apply a different curve and look to each track. In other words, be able to select when to do the magic motion, before or after the looks are applied.

In one of my recent shoots I placed a black couple against a huge sunlit window with no fill. On the A track there is face information in the shadow side, and on the X track is blue sky & buildings. With the current tools can use magic motion and then try to apply a curve. However either side of the extreme is lost with those curves. I would think that if i could do individual curves on the A and X track Id be able to better retain all the face information and get some blue sky. (BTW, the shot works as a pure A track shot only, so anything extra is bonus).

Another side benefit of being able to apply looks before the HDRx blend would be different color balances (tungsten interior, daylight exterior) and some funky sci-fi stuff.

For the record, in this shot the girl does a twirl against the windows - and magic motion vastly helps the 'simple blend' motion blur issues with HDRx.

Thanks for this new build, Red team !

Which version is considered to be stable and trouble-free on a production ?

Cheers...
