  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Build 351... finally.

Well let me start with a big thank you.

Skin tones really look great. I just pulled up a scene with a fair skinned actor against a residential interior wall that was painted green, that frankly was a bit of a struggle to get to look good before, and it looks so much better from the outset under the new color science.

Now a quick question.

I just took delivery on an MC Color today, and it doesn't appear to be working with Build 351. This could very well be pilot error on my part. Is the Euphonix panel working for other folks with this build?

Thanks again to the RED team,

Steve

think it only works with the 32bit version of redcinex , because mc color only has 32bit drivers

One great gift for christmas would be for red.com to reflect the latest software versions...It's very heartbreaking to see ones work getting the conversion done in Redcine-X 262 because some on-line technician believes it's the latest one :-(
Jim & co :-), is there any chance it would be possible to get the support site to reflect the latest installments?
And if possible, make an archive section for deprecated versions.....we are still seeing folks trying to run a lot of stuff thru redrushes and red alert :-(

It's just so terrible to see quality go out the window for no reason at all....:-)

We put the builds on reduser first so we get lots of feedback and bug fixes before we push it into an official release on red.com.

We're close to a release for red.com.

Excuse my very little brain but I'm still confused as to how we take advantage of the incredible work Graeme and gang have put into this if we grade in Resolve (for instance). I mean, this new colour science is freakin' amazing but we can only gain access to it via RCX, yeah? So, does this men, for now, we should do a pre-grade in RCX before passing onto Resolve?

Will the SDK eventually address this so that 3rd party guys can pass this along?

And will a new camera firmware version upgrade the camera's colour science to this level of awesomeness?

S'funny. it seems to me that even Red themselves are starting to have trouble keeping up with their own development speed. Each department is in a race with the other to see who can deliver the perfect camera first.

Hey guys. I am trying to use Redcine X 351 to delete some of my files from the harrdrive on my PC (aka the Tom Lowe feature ), but I am getting an error that says, "Unable to move the following files to trash". Any idea why this is not working?

On Windows, the most likely cause is that the clip is in use somewhere else in the application. Make sure it's not in the Viewer, Timeline, or being exported.
Also make sure no other applications are using that clip's files.

Failing that, the file or the file's directory has permissions that prevent you from deleting it. We're working on a more detailed error message for that case.

on my macbook running leopard, i can run the 32-bit version fine, but the 64 bit version won't even open... all the listed requirements are met, any ideas?

Can somepody please tell me what is so amazing and new at rc2 and rg2? For me it seems to just desaturate the picture, lift's shadows bit up and pulls highlights down?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You need to be running Snow Leopard OS 10.6.4 for 64 bit - Leopard is 32bit only.

It's not meant to look finished yet! The whole idea is to have the maximum information available to you in the grade. If a pixel is black or white, that's it, no way to bring it back. Go back to the images and look at blacks and whites and you'll get the idea. To me it looks like the sensor has gained another stop and a half of DR.

The 64-bit version of REDCINE-X is currently supported on Snow Leopard only. You'll have to use the 32-bit version on Leopard.

thanks for the new version. I'm enjoying it immensely. Importing FCP xml seems a no go at this point. Every file I import only brings in 4 clips or so. EDL on the otherhand works well. Unfortantely, frame rotations and zoom/crops aren't preserved from the FCP timeline. Lastly one feature update I'd really like to see is the cursor to move with the key strokes. Specifically, when I jog through the timeline using right arrow key, the images change but the timeline doesn't move so I don't know where the cursor is located.
