  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Build 340...

Hi.

Rocket with 340 needs driver 1.3.3

Currently on red.com/support is 1.3.2

Is there a place to download 1.3.3 at the moment?

I had it on an old computer, but that was a piece of luck... -:)

Hi Uli.....yes, i'm aware that the Dreamcolor requires RGB as well as 10bit out from the HDMI. My question is more focused to the point of OUTPUT via HDSDI to the AJA Hi5 converter. As in most things....i always here it's better to downsample from higher resolution....such as downsampling from 4k to 1080p...So, would it be better (picture quality wise) to send a YUV 444 12 bit signal to the AJA Hi5 so that it has a higher quality signal to then output RGB 10bit..OR..should i just send a 10bit RGB signal out to the AJA converter and hence send it out via HDMI to the Dreamcolor.

...So my question is really that. Better to send higher quality signal out before converting? or send RGB 10 out to the AJA converter and let it pass RGB 10bit?

.....AND, i was never aware that we now need to set up the Output from the RR each project. I had thought it was intuitive or just sent out the highest quality. BUT, that is good to know we can do this.....as i just discovered yesterday.
 
Viewer bug:
I open a clip in the viewer.
I see that I hate it and do a "Show in Folder" in the Bin.
I delete the clips folder in the Finder.
Its still in the Viewer, ok... but only one frame.
I cannot load other clips into the viewer any more. That one frame stays for ever (or until relaunch).

Should I not delete clips present in some form in RCX?

if i bring my clips from browser window to my bin, the metadata can´t be viewed in bin.
there is an error message: failed to open file. but in browser window it works fine. this is a bug i think.

Same here.
 
It's getting good. There's some GUI things, mainly that the most important thing gets too little space and a lot of unimportant things take up a lot of space and hide most of the important info. It's quite messy. But stable by now. Stable = good. Me likes.

BUT...

I need a couple of things.

Waveform to work with Rocket playout...

I actually need drx. I don't care about denoise and sharpening, but I really need DRX.
Sorry for bringing this up again, and I know that it is hard in hardware, but besides redlogFilm DRX is one of the most important RED technologies. If you cannot give me DRX, you must give me DRX. -:)

I need a way to batch export for VFX. A naming convention.
I came up with a suggestion. I am open for others.

I need event/abs_sequence TC in/level in composite/type/version
Where the assets have a logical nameing under the main directory.

Currently I spend hours doing naming manually for VFX.

I really need a waveform, too -:)

OpenEXR Export issue

OpenEXR Export issue

Hi. I am trying to export OpenEXR image sequences in the new build however, I am getting some very f'd-up images. Has anyone else experienced issues with this? The exports work fine in some of the older versions. I really like some of the new features in 340 so I'd really like to use it. Any help would be appreciated. I've attached a sample frame. We haven't been able to reproduce this.
Can you please turn on verbose logging and send your log file to redcinex at red dot com.

This is a known bug and the next release will have a fix for it.

All my renders ended before reach 100% with the error mesage "Finished with Error" "Error applying crop or scale:frame: xxx" I am not cropping the shots.

Any ideas?

Known (?) problem with rendering when monitoring on sdi?

Worked yesterday, not today. RC crashes.

Rendering works when monitoring is not turned on.

Need someway to update the histogram at least when it's not playing (for starters) and get a proxy-update on the computer-screen preview for metering etc.

White balance is not working

White balance is not working

I still can´t get the white balance color picker to work.
I thought that the Kelvin 1700 problem were solved but
I have seen this issue through the last many versions
of Redcine X.
Any hints around??

All Exports should be automatically pausing while using Red Rocket Video Out. You cannot use the Red Rocket for transcoding and video out at the same time.
