  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Build 326...

I had 321 on my brand new fresh Mac Pro 2010 Quad 2,8 - and whenever i loaded clips with external audio attached to it, it crashed .... had to go 262 again, how sad :( ill try excited in a few hours if 326 fixed this. :)

Hi Alex,

We haven't had any audio issues in a while. Please turn on verbose logging and send a copy of your log file to redcinex at red dot com please. Thanks!
You can access the current log file from the Help menu.

OK- I got two issues- don't know if they are related:
1- QT's rendered via REDLINE do not have proper 'look' applied. Same clip rendered without REDLINE looks perfect.
2- I rendered 8 clips via REDLINE- all report successful and finished, but only 2 of them can be opened by QT- all others say 'this is not a movie file' when I try to open.

OS 10.6.3, 2 x 2.8 GHz quad, 6GB ram, GeForce 8800GT, no Rocket, Kona 3,

I'm having no luck with Avid CMX3600 EDLs. I've tried several different styles, including 16 character tape names, 8 char, etc, with no luck. All result with RedCine-X just doing nothing.

-stumped.

i tested it also with 16 character edl from avid and now its seems to work fine. the only thing i dont understand is, if i import an edl as timeline, i think i should find these clips then also in the bin/timeline tab window. but there isn´t any imported clip, but down in my timeline i see my clips.

another question: on some clips i see a scalable red frame in the viewer window. whats the meaning of this. i thought first something like region of interest but when i play the clip in the viewer the whole picture is moving and not only inside this red frame.

Hi Matthias,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. They should be appearing in the timeline tab on the bin, so this is a bug.

The red frame is your crop frame for the clip. It is appearing because framing guides are enabled in the clip metadata. Go to the framing tool and set it to No Crop to turn it off.

Thanks,

David

Hi David,
thanks for your reply. i didn´t try this framing option before and i didn´t saw this crop frame on these clips in older builds.

ProRes 422 is rendering fine so far. Can't get any information in the bin when I go to list view. In thumbnail view they show up fine, but as soon as I toggle the view... the clips are not showing up. Kinda strange.

Any ideas?

How many clips are in your bin? If you have allot, it will take longer to show up.

What to do with the redline alias?

What to do with the redline alias?

Thanks Jim! Awesome progress on RCX these days! What are we supposed to do with the redline alias that comes in the disk image?

Also, page 45 in the manual has an error. Unlike previous builds, you don't hit the red rocket monitor out button to change your monitor out settings (the icon that looks like a monitor), you have to hit the red rocket indicator button (the icon that looks like a rocket) in order to change it.

EDL importing is the feature i needed the most from REDCINE-X and i hope we can make it work!

I wrote about importing EDLs from Sony Vegas to the RED WORKFLOW forum but nobody seems to read there so i will post the problem here.

I exported an EDL CMX3600 from Vegas 9.0. A simple timeline. No audio. No dissolves.

The EDL file has this structure (c&p):

FCM: NON-DROP 24 FRAME

Then i import it in RC-X. I choose the timeline as a target and select the footage folder.

The clips are found correctly and imported in the timeline in the correct order but:

The In/Out points are wrong and the clip durations are wrong.

Any idea what's wrong or how to fix that?

Thanks, I've let our documentation guy know!

Only three huh!! ;) Ok, we'll try and replicate on our end.

Thanks!

David
