RAW workflow is my single favorite aspect of the Red experience. Always wanting to push the post workflow to its utmost, I have been trying to duplicate the ease at which I can manipulate RAW still images in Aperture and r3d motion images in Redcine-X. I find the highlight, shadow and recovery tools in Aperture give me much more manipulation range than the equivalent tools in Redcine-X. Am I simply seeing inherent differences in dynamic range between my D700 stills and Red MX or do I just need more practice with Redcine-X?

Highlight and Shadow controls in Aperture are spatially adaptive - which is quite reasonable on a photo, but not so good on moving images. They work very differently to anything in REDCine-X.

Makes sense- thanks for the reply Graeme. It seems to me that the Epic is crossing over into new ground and is the first real contender for not just the king of the motion cameras but also a truly viable professional still camera. Since Redcine is more geared to motion imagery, are there plans for an Aperture-like interface for Epic stills?
