  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RedCine to ALE

Thanks Michael for the clarification.
Seems that the only way is Automatic Duck.
Just trying in these hours...

Just to inform you guys that I've succesfully imported via the Automatic Duck's FCP import plugin an OMF 2.0 (no media) from Avid (Music clip, about 180 cuts) in FCP.
From FCP, I've used the Crimson path to create a Redcine XML.

All went down straight and smooth. Just a little problem with Redcine, that won't export all the clips in a single batch. I've made three chunk.

Thanks again for the support to all...

Michael,

Is there any way I can change the file names back to the original imported ( they where changed during syncsound to scene - shot - take structure) before exporting edl or omf/aaf for the duck.
I love siziphian work but I rather not change the names manualy in a FCP for a feature film that i have comming out of Avid offline in some weeks.

thanks.

If the original file name exists in a separate column you can highlight that column and do a "cmnd D" or "ctrl D" to duplicate its conents to the Name column. Select NAME from the pop up dialog box and column header selector.

Thank you Michael,

The names exist in the tape colum but with out the suffix _.mov, any easy way to add that suffix to all the colum?

Thanks again,

Hmmmm... unfortunately not. Does FCP really need the file type extension to work?

Michael

Something that may work is exporting the ALE of the selected clips after the above steps. Use a text editor of your choice that would add .mov to items in that field. There is a "merge" option in the ALE import that will change the NAME of the clips based on what it sees in the ALE file to the clips in the bin... if you can find a text editor that will do that type of rename, I can give you more detailed steps on the merge function.
