Hi, i've searched on this and found that qt 7.4 was problematic, but 7.4.5 was supposed to correct some of the issues. Here is what I'm experiencing and what i'm experiencing it on.

Trying to output 1080p proRes and it renders through with no errors, but when i got to play the rendered file, it only displays a still image for the duration that the clip should have been.

Output settings, prores 422 (hq) Quality (maximum) Linear, 1920x1080

This has happened to me on a macBook pro 2.33, a macPro 2.66 and an 8 core macPro with Nvidea 5600, and an 8core MacPro with the ATI card.

I also tried rendering to XDcam 1080p24fps with the same results.

I can't be the only one with this problem, in fact, the only reason i'm posting this is because a friend of mine has just experienced this same problem and is coming to me for help. Soo, how bout it y'alls? Any advice?

Well, hmmmm...

Tell me a little about your system(s) specs including hard drives/ram -

Also, do you have that little FCS playback box checked under Quicktime preferences?

Do you use Anders' RC Reset?

Software's all up to date?

Same here. But strangely, all my export to Qt Prores HQ run correctly until they reach 00:15:11. Everything that comes after that is still, for the rest of the clips duration. For every clip i tried exporting, all stoped at 15:11.

I'm using a mac pro 2 x 2.8 Quad Core Intel Xeon
4 Go DDR2 800MHz
MacOSX 10.5.4
FCP 6.04
QT: Version 7.5 (149.5)

Also, i'm working off a LaCie External Drive, through fw800.

we have the same problem every now and again, please remember that redcine is still a beta program so we have to put up with a few bugs; that being said our solution for this problem is:
1. uninstall and reinstall redcine under an admin account on your computer
2. launch redcine once from admin account before using on any other user
3. open new redcine project and reimport/grade
4. output should be fine now...good luck!

Hey, I tried your advice and now instead of outputting one good clip and then a whole bunch of worthless clips made of single frames, I just just get all useless clips.

Anybody else have any work-arounds?

Funny how RedCine has had the same bug for months. I guess it's a sales tool for Scratch in more ways than one.

I ran into this problem while ago but I fixed it by reinstalling things.
I'm going to try to remember what the problem was and post it later.

I did the similar thing that Thom mentioned. Also, if you have such problem with the REDCINE project, you will have to try loading the R3D files with a fresh REDCINE project.

So, I reinstalled the software, started a new project and reloaded the clips. Same problem. Bunch of clips all made from a single frame of the first clip.

I took some clips out so there were only 3 in the library and managed to export one good clip and two with all single frames. If I switch the order of the clips, the first one outputs and the other two fail so it's not related to the clip itself or the content.

Ughh.

Yeah. I've the same problem over here. I'm also on a octo-proc tower with OSX 10.5.4 and Quicktime 7.5. Is Quicktime the culprit here? Does Red Rushes work for any of you that are having this RC freeze? RR just hangs on a beach ball immediately when starting the render.

I've identified and fixed a couple of bugs in the QuickTime codec. A new version will be out in the next couple of days, please try and let us know how that works.

THANK YOU ROB. I have no means of batch processing clips with nice grades right now. One by one in RA is tedious. I look forward to trying it out as soon as possible. In fact I can beta test it today for you if you like?

Same problem

Same problem

I am experiencing this same problem and I am working under a tight deadline to get this done.

I have tried every option listed above and nothing seems to be working.

If tight deadline, there's always the RA/RedRushes route, might take awhile to get all the grades loaded over, but you'll at least be able to work.

I have encountered this. Every single time, I have trashed the "Redcine" folder found in the /Library folder (on a Mac) and that has solved the problem. Usually, I've seen it reappear as new builds are issued. But that's not a documented statement. Just a casual observation. So, now I made it part of the process to trash that "Redcine" folder in the Library every time a new build is issued. Haven't found any more still frame problems yet.

Just a heads-up.

QTs with one still frame

QTs with one still frame

I experienced the same still image effect converting raw files to ProRes QTs in different sizes, to different drives, with different filename specifications - - Uups! Suddenly it worked fine again. But next time it didn't! Even with some playing around with the filename specs again.

I had a strange case, that i could not use more than 172 slots in redcine.

(RedCine is fine in principle. I have to sort out material from documentary material (Too much!). And I just found out how to "log" in RedCine in the Shots tab. I think the video tutorials are very useful. Is there a way to work with ins and outs in redrushes? In FCP/ log and transfer I cannot tell, if a selected part is sharp. The preview is too lousy.)

It's been a few weeks since you said a new version of the OT codec would be out. Any word???

thanks,
Sean

I just had the same problem. It exports shorter clips, but when I did a clip a little longer (only 45 seconds or so) it rendered out teh first half fine but then made a freeze frame for the second part.
