redcine PAL and NTSC output

Quick question - Is Redcine going to be able to automatically output PAL and NTSC clips, with pulldown, from 24p material? I know the importance of delivery for SD is being talked about on another thread, this would be a huge help when doing projects that are going out to SD and staying there.

I'm assuming the camera will also shoot in 30p, 29.97 and 25p so that it wouldn't be a pulldown issue for SD export in those cases and just a frame resizing, but it would be great to shoot 24p as a master so that you can hedge your bets and deliver for different markets down the road if necessary.

I imagine Graeme with his standards converter plugin experience may already have this in there, but just curious. It would be great to add otherwise.

no, not SD output directly from the camera, I was considering conversion options in the Redcine desktop software to convert from your 4k redcode RAW 'negative'.

The adding of 3:2 pull-down in REDCINE has been discussed on other threads. I'm not sure whether the final answer was that it would or would not do it. Obviously the adding of pulldown to the picture is fairly straightforward, but the preserving of back-tracable time-code is more complex. I'm sure there is a standard way of doing it, but being European myself I've never had to deal with it, so don't know how it is normally done!

The simple approach of course is that if you shoot 24p you edit at 24p, at whatever resolution is convenient for you. Then you convert from your 24p master to whatever deliverables are required.

You could burn both the:
A- Original 23.98 timecode
B- A converted into the timecode of the working format. i.e. 59.97NDF, 59.97DF

This is the current practice. (Sorry, I'm tired right now so I may not be explaining this fully.)

If one shoots in 4K redcode RAW at 24 fps and can then output using redcine to 1080i in 50 and 60 fps (or DF equivalents) then WOW! I think it still may be cheaper to output to a PAL or NTSC format in an online master session then do the PAL- NTSC conversion at a facility for global distribution master but what will be the quality difference?
