  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RedCine Output is very, very wrong

Has anybody posted a logfile? Have you tried these things:

1) Uninstall/reinstall REDCINE
2) Uninstall/reinstall graphics driver
3) Make sure nothing else on system is screwing with file i/o? Firewalls and virus scanners are notorious for this.
4) Make sure this is not isolated to a few R3D files?

Luki, I believe the problem is related to the video card, which is not nVidia.
Yes, I have done 1), 2), 3) and 4). I am not sure where log file is located.

On 1 PC the output footage and snapshots are corrupted, on another the frames are blue until I click Color, but then, there images do not respond to colour correction controls at all.

What you are describing certainly sounds like a graphics card without a sufficiently powerful GPU for REDCINE.

If you are on XP, the logfiles are in:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\REDCINE\Settings\logs

Has anyone come up with a solution?.. I am having the same problems.

I have the same problems on two PCs both with ATI cards... No Jpg, no Tiff, no QT no DPX is exporting correctly. the rest I haven't tested...

I don't know if the ATI Card is the problem, but on a third PC with NVidea it works perfectly.

I had problems like this also. It doesn't appear that the "FULL" setting for processing in the Output page works in REDCINE. When I switch to "Standard" my output is fine.

Having the same Problem.
Sys Vista64
Intel q9950
Ati Card with 1gb Memory

I´m working in the adobe workflow, so I can use the raws. Still its super annyoing and if anybody has a solution to this, please post it, thank you!

The solution appears to be by changing the video card to NVidia or, if you have a notebook, trash it and buy another one :sarcasm:

i have the same problem on a pc with ati graphics card.

funny thing is that i can output both sequences and snapshots in redlog just fine, but if i do this then none of my color corrections are visible.

is this normal that i cannot output with color corrections while working in redlog?

and so is there no way to do any color correction and outputting files with pc/ati ?

I have the same problem on Toshiba Vista 64bit laptop with ATI graphics. Other than ouput it works great with Redcine 3.1.8. All controls do what they are supposed to and work instantly. Plays 1/4 res medium 4k at about 18fps.
I didn't buy the laptop for this purpose, just being able to view clips and play with grading is OK for now. Be nice if they could get the ATI problem corrected, but it probably has to do with writing directly to the video hardware for speed instead of through OS driver layer, so no easy solution likely.

Same garbled screen on Xserve

Same garbled screen on Xserve

I've got REDCINE on an 8 core Intel Xserve with an ATI x1300 graphics card. Everything is fine until I start the render - boom! Screen goes multicolor and deconstructs itself. Output is the same whether Quicktime or file sequence. Tried a variety of settings with no change in results.

This is too bad as this Xserve would have been perfect for processing RED files without using one of our edit suites. Any hope of this being fixed or is the graphics card in this computer just too weak to handle the power or RED?

Logfile?

Jeff,

Edit> Nevermind. I looked at the log file. Seems like there's a QT codec issue with H.263. And later a media cache error and/or memory error that forced a shutdown. Hopefully Luki has more insight. :)
