Hey, running on a Windows XP box, Intel Dual Core, lots of memory and a good video card.

I was having some artifacting issues when outputting to any Quicktime formats earlier, except for RAW Loseless, which came out beautifully, EXCEPT the 36 second clip was 2.2 Gigabytes.

So I messed around but I could get it to go away, lots of noise and artifacting (especially around the edges, and especially when people moved in the frame), and about a third of the way in it would begin to "pulse" pixelation. It would be pristine quality for several frames, then there would be a pronounced pixelation that would pulse on and off every 10-16 frames or so.

NONE of these issues are in the R3D file, it's sharp and clear and pristine throughout, so it's not in the source file.

I read that other people were having issues outputting to Quicktime, so I upgraded my software to Redcine 3.15 which fixed the pixelation issue.

The image is now really great looking except it's really soft (when it's quite sharp in the 4K raw) AND it's very washed out looking.

Nothing I could not fix by perhaps boosting the blacks a little, BUT I would like it to NOT do this in the first place.

The original image is quite rich, nice blacks and vivid colors, but when I output it looks like the contrast of the image has been reduced very slightly, so everything has a slightly desaturated look.

Once again, nothing I can't fix, but I would like to fix it before it outputs.

The reason I am outputting to Quicktime is because I need to show "samples" of the footage before I finish editing the project (it's for an Advanced Cinematography class), and I want to have just an Standard Def render that I can show off of a DVD, rather than spending all of the extra render time (for footage i'm not going to even be editing with) outputting to something really good looking.

So is there a way to fix the output before it outputs, or is my only option throwing the footage into Vegas after I finish rendering it and messing with it's contrast and saturation then rendering it again?

Also, is there a way to make it look a little sharper in the Standard Def footage? I know i'm downressing a lot, but i've seen standard def footage look sharper than this, and just want to know what's best to render as to make it look a little sharper?

Thanks!
