I'm on a 8-core MacPro system with 10GB of ram. Haven't had any problems importing r3d files until today. The stuff I shot yesterday (4K 2:1, 30fps) keeps crashing as soon as I click the r3d file to import. It didn't do this for other stuff I shot the last 3 days.

Anyone know what I can do to solve this? There's a tight deadline and I need to get this done fast but I can't work on the file without Redcine crashing everytime (and I tried resetting the computer too with same results).

I would also like to add that if I open the QT proxies from a folder, they open without problems.

Thanks in advance.

some standard trick is to erase the redcine folder in the library, or a fresh install....disconnect the internet while working with redcine

I'll give that a shot, thanks!

The other problem I am having in FCP is that a message:

"Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card."

I get this when I try to render the timeline.

Any ideas why?

Looks like your system could be a mixed bag of trouble.

Make sure all your RAM are matching.

Usual configurations are 4,8, and 16GB

Are they the same brand? all ECC? Made by mac or for mac?

Look at your configuration first.

Will RAM actually cause problems like this? Does it have anything to do with codecs?

It's made for Mac, not by Mac. I can take out the 2GB of actual Mac ram and leave the new "for mac" ram in there. Would that help?

Helped me...

BTW I've aquired a new RC bug where it won't open after trashing the prefs..., so trash them, but don't empty the trash till you see if it works...

Thanks! That solved the Redcine problem.

However, anyone know how to solve my FCP problem mentioned above with the hardware compression error message that pops up when I try to render?
I'm going to try removing the Mac RAM to see if that works.
